The 2019 Kentucky Farm Bureau State Young Farmer Summer Outing will be held July 26-27, at the Center for Rural Development in Somerset, Kentucky. This event will provide a relaxed, fun atmosphere for young farm families to socialize, tour local ag-related sites, and gain a better understanding of the Farm Bureau organization.
The weekend will formally begin with the preliminary rounds of the 2019 Discussion Meet Contest Friday morning. Applications were mailed to the counties in March and are due to the state office no later than Friday, June 14th. Applications may be found online at kyfb.com/federation/young-farmers. Following the opening luncheon, participants are welcome to take part in an afternoon tour of Wolf Creek Dam. Dinner will be held at the SomerSplash Water Park where families will enjoy an exciting evening of fun and fellowship.
Saturday begins with the “Eggs and Issues” Breakfast featuring our annual young farmer policy development session. Following breakfast, participants will depart on one of five tours you chose online at the time you register. The Young Farmer Summer Outing will conclude Saturday evening with a dinner and activities at Bear Wallow Farm, Nancy, Kentucky.
We will be collecting the full amount of the event costs from attendees as they register. This will include both the registration and hotel fees at the Courtyard Marriott ($99 plus tax/night minus onsite incidental costs).* The conference early registration fee is $150 for adults and $80 for children ages 2-12 through Tuesday, June 25th. After June 25th, registration will be available at $175 for adults and $90 for children ages 2-12. Participants may register onsite, but hotel availability cannot be guaranteed after Monday, July 8th, which is also the online registration deadline. No refunds will be given for cancellations after Monday, July 8th. *If we reach capacity at the Courtyard Marriott Somerset, we will move any additional rooming requests to the Hampton Inn Somerset. The pricing at both hotels is the same. We will notify any attendees that have been moved to the Hampton Inn Somerset after the registration deadline.
