James Lamont Managing Editor Financial Times James Lamont is the Financial Times’ Managing Editor, appointed in April 2012. He has global responsibility for staffing and strategic planning for the FT’s editorial department. Before relocating to London, Mr Lamont spent four years as the FT’s South Asia Bureau Chief, based in New Delhi. He spent the previous four years as World News Editor in London. Before that he was News Editor for FT Weekend and he has also been a Johannesburg-based Southern Africa Correspondent. Before joining the Financial Times in 2001, Mr Lamont was Editor of Business Report, South Africa's largest financial daily and a title owned by Dublin-based Independent News & Media. He was Deputy Editor of the Middle East Times in Cairo. He also reported on oil and gas in the region for the Opec news agency. Mr Lamont started his career in journalism writing for a UK-based consumer magazine. He completed his first degree at the University of York and did a postgraduate course in southern Africa studies. | ![]() |
Rana Kapoor Founder, Managing Director and CEO YES BANK Rana Kapoor is the Founder, Managing Director and CEO of YES BANK. A professional entrepreneur, Mr Kapoor since 2003 has progressively established YES BANK as a high-quality, state-of-the-art, private Indian bank with a stated vision of “Building the Best Quality Bank of the World in India” by 2015. Under his leadership, YES BANK has received significant national and global recognition, including winning the Sustainable Bank of the Year (Asia/Pacific) prize at the FT/IFC Sustainable Finance Awards in 2011 and 2012, and being included as a Foundation Member of the World Economic Forum. Mr Kapoor received a Doctorate in Science (Honoris Causa) from G.B. PantUniversity of Agriculture & Technology for his contribution to the Indian food and agribusiness sector. He won the 2012 Asian Banker CEO Leadership Achievement Award for India, and also received the 2012 Distinguished Entrepreneurship Award at the PHD Chamber Awards for Excellence. He earlier received the Godfrey Phillips Bravery ‘National Special Social Award’ for actively driving Responsible Banking. Prior to establishing YES BANK, Mr Kapoor was CEO and Managing Director, and main Managing Partner, of Rabo India Finance Pvt Ltd, and was General Manager and Country Head of ANZ Grindlays’ Investment Bank. Before that, he spent 15 years at Bank of America. Mr Kapoor has been the Honorary Consul of Cyprus in Mumbai since 2002. He is also President (elect) of ASSOCHAM; Member, Board of Governors, IndianInstitute of Corporate Affairs (IICA); and Member, Government of India’s Board of Trade. He was previously Deputy Chairman of the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) and President of the Council of EU Chambers of Commerce in India. He holds an MBA degree from RutgersUniversity in the US and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics (Honours) from the University of Delhi. | ![]() |
