CCMTA Annual Meeting 2015

The land of the Midnight Sun

Please plan to join us in Whitehorse, Yukon this spring, when this beautiful wilderness city in the ‘land of the midnight sun’ plays host to our 2015 Annual Meeting. Whitehorse is Yukon’s capital and a major hub. With a population of 30,000 it offers modern-day amenities and services far beyond the expectation of a city of its size. This ‘big little city’ is surrounded by some of the most majestic wilderness in North America and maintains the friendly demeanor of a close-knit community.

Nature at its best

Whitehorse is nestled within the picturesque Yukon River valley - the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta'an Kwäch'an Council. The area boasts a broad range of cultural, literary and recreational activities, excellent hotels and restaurants as well as museums and historic sites.

Yukon, a place where nature works on a larger scale, is world renowned as a legendary land filled with Gold Rush History, pristine wilderness and natural phenomena, like the northern lights. Home to Canada's highest mountain peak at over 5000 meters and boasting a land "Larger than Life", the territory remains close to 80 percent pristine wilderness teeming with wildlife, mighty heritage rivers and a unique arts and culture that speaks to the people who are drawn here by the spirit of the north.

The long, light-filled days (and nights) of summer are fuel for touring, hiking and canoeing adventures, midnight golfing, fishing or simply exploring.

Culture

The city enjoys a steady stream of northern festivals showcasing local and international talents year round. In June you’ll have the opportunity to see and experience some of the local enthusiasm surrounding the festivities at the brink of summer solstice when the sun barely sets.
