LA TROBE UNIVERSITY
In 1967, 552 students enrolled at La Trobe University, the third university to open in Victoria, which has grown to accommodate more than 36,000 students, with over 7,000 international students from 110 countries. We now have a network of campuses, with over 26,000 students at our Melbourne Campus and over 7,500 at our campuses in Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, Mildura, Melbourne City (Collins Street and Franklin Street), Shepparton and Sydney. 2017 marks 50 years of La Trobe University, and the University we will celebrate with current students and alumni sharing their La Trobe stories; cultural and environmental projects; reunions, and more.

To support this mission, our cross-disciplinary Our research activity is organised under five broad Research Focus Areas (RFAs) in which we have cross-disciplinary and specialist academic experts and projects that build on our strengths and address some of the most pressing questions affecting the future of human societies and their environments.
In terms of our teaching and learning programs, La Trobe has a distinctive and high quality degrees that will equip students to understand and engage with the global issues of today. We achieve this through a distinctive curriculum framework that emphasises breadth of learning and systematic exposure to the major challenges students will face over the course of their lifetimes.
We have also embedded the The La Trobe Essentials – Global Citizenship, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Sustainability Thinking – in all of our undergraduate degree programs. Through the Essentials, La Trobe students learn how to work and live across cultures in today’s interconnected world; develop skills to implement ideas; and understand the importance of ensuring that business, social and environmental practices help create a better world.
La Trobe University is adept at industry and commercial collaborations, and has a dedicated program of work to support University researchers to work with industry on applied and industry-based research activities. The development of relationships to drive co-investment and long term strategic alliances with industry, education and research partners is of critical importance to La Trobe and is demonstrated by La Trobe’s commitment to developing the R&D Park and innovation precinct at our Melbourne campus; the investment in the La Trobe Accelerator Program and our ongoing commitment to industry and community collaborations in regional Victoria.
