WLI Certificate Program

If interested in pursuing a certificate of completion for the Womanist Leadership Institute online course program, participants must complete three (3) core courses and three (3) elective courses over a period of two years. The program will be on-going, with electives varying year to year, allowing participants to complete the requirements within an extended period as needed. Courses are open to all, and an application is not necessary. Interested participants will simply register for the courses.

The three core courses of the Womanist Leadership Institute (WLI) include:

Womanist Theology: A Primer

Models of Womanist Leadership

Womanist Biblical Interpretation

Electives will vary year to year. Those being offered in the 2022-2023 academic year include:

Womanist Ways of Worship

Black Women's Mental Health as Resistance

Participants may take individual WLI courses without pursuing a certificate of completion for the full program. Certificates of completion are also awarded for individual courses when course requirements are met. A certificate of completion is also awarded at the completion of the Womanist Leadership Institute program. As these courses are for continuing education, grades and degree credits are not awarded within the program.
