Matt Allsup - EDP Renewables

Matt Allsup is the Senior Operations Manager for EDP Renewables, NA at the Lone Star Wind Farm in Abilene, TX. Matt began working in the wind industry in 2008, and has held positions of increasing responsibility over the years. With experience in many aspects of field operations, Matt has a deep appreciation for the work done by wind technicians.

Paul Baker

Paul Baker - Frontier Pro:  "How to Maximize the life of a gearbox"

Paul Baker, V.P. Business Development has been working in the wind industry since June of 2004 when he joined Moventas. He had responsibilities including Service Manager, Sales & Marketing Manager Wind Gears North America, and Product Manager Wind Gears North America. His background has been in the sales, repair and application engineering of industrial gear drives for the past 18 years. A graduate of the US Navy Nuclear Power Program, he completed undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin and Arizona State University. He has served on working groups with AWEA, CANWEA, and AGMA. The proud founding chairperson of the NW Wind Industry Alliance, Paul is currently active on the NW Renewable Energy Institute PAC Committee.

James Macik

James Macik - Moventas:  "Uptower Repair Issues"  

As the Field Service Manager for Moventas, James Macik brings with him a wealth of technical knowledge gained from thousands of hours of building and servicing a wide range of gears. With roughly 13 years experience in the wind industry, James is well versed in wind gear maintenance and is well-known for his innovative approach to up tower services. Prior to joining Moventas, James worked as a shop manager at Prager Gear and as a service technician at Philadelphia Gear.

Ross MacKellar

Ross MacKellar - Monitek:  "Wind Turbine Maintenance Ecomics and the Role of CM in Mitigating Costs"

Ross MacKellar is senior vice president Senior Vice President Monitek, Inc. Ross gained his Masters degree in Electrical and Reliability Engineering in 1975 in Sydney Australia and has since worked as both an Electrical Engineer and Mechanical Engineer.

Ross has been working as an engineer within the maintenance arena for the last 46 years, spending the first 16 years in the Australian airline industry, where he ultimately specialized in Reliability Engineering and was involved in the implementation of maintenance philosophies and concepts, which are now referred to as Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM).

Ross MacKellar

David Clark

David Clark co-authored condition monitoring specifications for wind turbine manufacturers and their generator and gearbox test stands. He has been involved in gigawatts of end of warranty inspections and retrofits of condition monitoring on megawatt class turbines. He has experience monitoring and analyzing manufacturers wind turbines ranging from 100kw up to megawatt class turbines from multiple manufacturers in multiple countries.

In addition to 12 years of condition monitoring in wind, he has experience in the traditional markets that range from nuclear power to steel mills to mining. He holds multiple certifications from vibration analysis to oil analysis. Born and raised in the cradle of wind power in North America, David Clark was educated and lives in Northern California.

Meagan Santos - Hydac

Meagan Santos is Sales and Market Manager - Wind for HYDAC International. Meagan has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and is a Certified Fluid Power Specialist, with over 18 years of experience in the fluid power industry, seven of those in wind power.

Ted Vasiliw - Castrol

Ted Vasiliw has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and is a Registered Professional Engineer. Ted is a Certified Lubrication Specialist – STLE, with 10 years experience in mechanical engineering power generation and 15 years with industrial lubricants. Ted currently supports Wind Turbine OEM and Out-Of-Warranty and is located in Tucson, AZ.

Lou Dorworth - Abaris Training:  "Composite Repair of Wind Blades"

Louis C. (Lou) Dorworth has been working in the advanced composites industry since 1978. He has been associated with Abaris since its inception in 1983 and has been employed by Abaris Training since 1989. His background includes many years of education and experience in composite materials research & development, manufacturing engineering, material & process engineering, and tool design and fabrication.

His aerospace composite background includes work on such programs as the Lear Fan 2100, Beechcraft Starship 1, B-2 bomber, C-17 transport, MD-11, Boeing 777, Airbus A-330/340, as well as many unmanned vehicle projects and programs. In addition, Lou has been involved with a number of non-aerospace programs, ranging from wind blades to snowboards to marine vessels to submersibles.

Lou has been a professional member of the Society for the Advancement of Material & Process Engineering (SAMPE) since 1982, having published a variety of technical papers over the years. He also has been a senior member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) since 1997, and is currently chair of the Plastics, Composites, and Coatings Community (PCC), as well as recent past chair of the Composite Manufacturing Technical Group (CMTG).

Lou co-authored “Essentials of Advanced Composite Fabrication & Repair,” a highly rated textbook published by Aviation Supplies & Academics, Inc. (ASA). ISBN 978-1-56027-752-1.

Clint Ramberg - Spider - "Getting familiar with suspended access platforms"

A 15 year scaffold industry veteran, Clint Ramberg has extensive experience with both supported and suspended scaffolding.  He specializes in wind and industrial access as well as fall protection solutions and has held operations, sales, profit leadership and senior management roles with Brand Services and Spider.

John Tremblay - Snap-On 

John Tremblay is Wind Energy Segment Manager for Snap-on Industrial. In his 24th year with Snap-on, John has held various positions in Sales and Sales Management during that time. In his current role, John leads sales and development of unique products and programs designed to support Wind Power OEM’s, Owners and 3rd Party Operations & Maintenance companies. John has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from Western New England University, and an MBA from the UMASS Isenberg School of Management.

Todd Shelton - Star Safety Services

Todd Shelton is the Owner/Partner of Star Safety Services LLC and has been involved in the Wind Industry for 8 ½ years. Authorized instructor in OSHA 1910/1926, MSHA IS/IU, High Angle Rescue, PEC basic/core, and Medic 1st First Aid/CPR/AED/BBP, Todd has provided safety training for Wind and other Industries for the last 2 ½ years.

Grant Madden - Fire Chief and Emergency Services Director

Grant Madden is the Fire Chief and Emergency Services Director for the Sweetwater, Texas Fire Department and Ambulance Service. He has been a fireman for 13 years and a Paramedic for 12 years. Grant has been certified through many different agencies for wind turbine climbing and rescue operations.

Kevin Alewin - Shermco - "Common Failure Modes of Wind Turbine Generators"

Kevin Alewine is Director of Renewable Energy Services for Shermco Industries, based in Irving, Texas. Previously, he has worked for more than 30 years in marketing, business development and application engineering helping specify, develop and test insulating materials and systems. Kevin is active on several IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society standards working groups and is the Co-Chairman of the American Wind Energy Association Operations and Maintenance Working Group for the development of wind power plant maintenance recommended practices.
