Jenny Gizzi
Head of Commercial Talent Acquisition (US & WW)
Bristol-Myers Squibb

Jenny Gizzi is passionate about recognizing talent. She is a strong believer that talent acquisition involves a vision, planning, and executing a flawless strategy that when married with her love to win, provides her great satisfaction in making the right match. She started her career on the East Coast in pharmaceutical recruiting and fell in love with the sell … selling the company, selling the job, and selling the candidate. She tried a few different industries including telecom and high-tech but found that she was missing the connection to the company. She moved West to challenge herself where she landed in Forbes' fastest growing biotech -- running talent acquisition for six+ years. There she was able to set a vision and grow the recruiting function from the ground up -- setting up the process, EVP, tools, and reporting in a global environment. She hired and developed a high-performing global team that stood out as “talent magnets” to the industry and the organization. By being in an industry with little regulation, she was able to spread her wings and push innovation to the limit. In 2010, she returned to the East Coast to bring innovation to a larger organization and has been able to steadily transform BMS. She has mastered the art of a proactive recruiting model -- combining talent management, internal, and external succession planning, pipelining and workforce planning into a strategy to source, recruit and retain the very best talent for Bristol-Myers Squibb. Here she has assembled a high performing team and has reduced agency spend from $4M to $0 in just three years. She is committed to setting the bar higher for herself and her team and is a strong believer in creating a safe space to take risks - it’s okay to fail, as long as you have tried.

Antarctic Mike Pierce
Consultant, Speaker and Author

In Jan 2006, Mike became one of nine people to have run a marathon on the Antarctic continent; 11 months later he returned to Antarctica to become the first American to complete the Antarctic Ultra Marathon, a grueling 100km (62.1 miles).  Since then Mike has completed many other winter marathons in the coldest and harshest climates on earth. His stories have been featured on CNN, Sports Illustrated, Fox, ABC, CBS Early Show, ESPN, and many other national and international sources.

OK, you’re thinking: WHY?  Surprisingly, it has very little to do with cold weather or sports.  Rather, it’s about the disciplines necessary to be successful in difficult situations.  Leaders today face the same challenges as those who first conquered Antarctica.  The question is this: Are we ready?

Leading at 90 Below Zero is all about one thing: Making sure that leaders understand how to help their teams be ready to face any conditions and still thrive.  Mike will illustrate from Polar history stories the importance of showcasing your companies opportunity, picking the right people for the expedition, and conditioning and rewarding them so that they have the ability and desire to complete the expedition.

Mike holds his BA from the University of Colorado, Boulder in Marketing and resides in Encinitas, CA with his wife Angela.
