Modern pricing is everyone's responsibility from Sales to Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Operations and Management. Each department plays a key role in creating, capturing and communicating value to the marketplace in order to realize a desired price that matches off again the desired benefits and a fair price/value proposition.

The difference between getting the price right is an activity that may only take minutes, hours, days or several weeks by taking an outside-in approach to pricing, by talking to your customers to understand how they trade price for your value. The resources, fees, tools and time commitment of obtaining the right prices is usually a tiny fraction of the unrealized revenue.

PRESENTER: Michael Hurwich, M.B.A

Michael Hurwich
is one of the most sought after pricing consultants in North America, Michael has consulted to major Fortune 500 firms and developed corporate pricing and business unit strategies in a range of industries including telecom, finance, retail, pharma and manufacturing. He has held key positions with several global consulting firms including Deloitte Consulting and also served as President of a leading manufacturer of consumer products. Currently Michael serves as President and Managing Partner of Strategic Pricing Management Group, a pricing strategy consulting firm with offices around the world. Michael has an M.B.A. in Corporate Finance and International Marketing and BA’s in Managerial Economics and Marketing. He has written numerous articles on pricing and is a frequent lecturer around the globe.

PRESENTER: Michael Ortiz, BPharm PhD
Australian Regional Director, Strategic Pricing Management Group (SPMG)

Michael Ortiz is the Australian Regional Director for SPMG. Dr Ortiz has a track record of successful pricing and reimbursement submissions to the PBAC, Veteran Affairs, PHARMAC and Hospital Formulary Committees in a broad range of treatment areas.  He served on several Medicines Australia pricing and reimbursement committees. He led the Medicines Australia team that developed the Weighted Average Monthly Treatment Costs (WAMTC) pricing process and he also led the Pricing Issues Group. In 2010, he co-authored a landmark study, published in the MJA, that assessed brand substitution and switching in the PBS.


PRESENTER: John Bronger, BPharm MBA OAM

John Bronger BPharm MBA OAM, held the role of president of the NSW Pharmacy Guild for five years, before serving as national president for another 11. He has been a proprietor of a group of successful community pharmacies for over 30 years. He negotiated three of the Community Pharmacy Agreements. Other notable appointments during his career include member of the Australian Pharmaceutical Advisory Committee, board member of Gold Cross Products advisory committee, member of the Board of Taxation (2000 - 2005), member of Change Agent Network of UTS and member of the National Council of Pharmacy Guild of Australia (1990 - 2005).
