CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
The Organising Committee is pleased to invite submissions of abstracts to be presented at the 2015 SPANZA/ANZAPS conference. Presentations may either be submitted as an oral presentation or a poster.
Please read the submission guidelines before submitting your abstract/s using the 'CLICK HERE' button at the bottom of the screen. The information below outlines the format your abstract must be submitted in as well as details on the online submission process.
SPANZA on
behalf of the Society will be awarding a best paper (A$500) and best poster prize (A$250).
ANZAPS will also be awarding a best paper and best poster prize on behalf of the Society.
DEADLINE FOR
PAPERS: Midnight on Monday 17 August 2015
Please note the following instructions when submitting abstracts:
- Must not exceed 400 words
- All abstracts are peer-reviewed and ranked on the basis of scientific merit. The program committee will use these rankings to develop the final program.
- Not all abstracts submitted will necessarily be accepted for presentation
- At the time of submitting your abstract, the data must not have been presented at any other meeting nor published as a proffered paper.
- If the research presented was supported by a commercial organisation, a statement identifying this support must be submitted
- If the research involved human subjects, it must have been approved by your institutional review board or Human Ethics Committee and conform to International Standards of Human Care.
- An author of any abstract selected for participation on the program must attend the meeting and pay the relevant registration fee.
Please note: The Organising Committee reserves the right to allocate papers as it sees fit.
TYPES OF PRESENTATION
Poster display
Poster presentations of original research, audit or case series are welcomed and will be displayed in the conference area for the duration of the meeting. All submitted abstracts will be considered for poster presentation. The presenting author will be allocated a lunchtime during which he/she should attend the poster and be available to field questions from delegates.
Oral presentation
Authors of these selected posters will be notified prior to the meeting and be allocated a specific time for presentation and questions. Exact timing will be determined at the time of notification.
Submission Details
Authors should submit abstracts and case reports online, as early as possible, but no later than Monday 17 August 2015.
You will receive an automatic acknowledgement of the receipt of your abstract and you will be notified by email by the end of August on the success of your submission and the required format.
The Organising Committee reserves the right to contact authors, if required to clarify the nature of intended presentations prior to making decisions regarding their acceptance.
Registration
All presenters must register to attend the Meeting and are responsible for their own travel, accommodation and registration expenses. A condition of acceptance is that at least one author is available to present at the Meeting.
Format for Abstracts
The following format must be followed for all abstracts:
Title - 12 point, bold typeface, Arial font, left aligned
Leave one blank line (12 point)
Authors – 10 point, Arial font, Surname, First name, Presenting Author to be bold
Affiliations numbered in superscript
Leave one blank line (12 point)
Affiliations – 10 point, Arial font, Italics, Affiliation, City, Country
Leave one blank line (12 point)
Abstract Text – 10 point, Arial font, left aligned, single spacing.
Conflict of interest statement - 8 point, Arial font, left aligned, single spacing
Maximum of 400 words
Please note the following:
- Do not insert any tables or figures
- Do not include titles or degrees
- Check spelling and grammar. Submitted material will be published in the Meeting Handbook – the abstract should, therefore, contain no errors.
- Standard scientific abbreviations may be used – non-standard abbreviations should be included in parenthesis after the first use of the full word.
- Do not indent paragraphs.
- Name the file with the first 8 characters from the surname of the fist author (for example: wolf.doc).
- Present sufficient data to support conclusions – it is unsatisfactory to use statements such as “data will be presented” or “results will be discussed”.

Presentation at the Meeting
Posters
should be displayed on the poster boards before lunchtime on Friday
16th. Board allocations will be sent to you before the meeting.
