Stream 1 - continued - Sexual health and diversity in the rural context

Workshop/discussion group focused on showcasing promising rural practice in the field of sexual health and diversity.

Abstracts for this workshop will showcase projects, programs or research that address one of the five key questions:

What are the challenges and barriers to optimal sexual health for diverse rural communities?

What are the enablers for optimal sexual health for diverse rural communities?

How does diversity within organisations influence the work and/or the workers?

How do we match the diversity of practice/services in rural communities with the diversity of the communities they serve?

How do we measure the success of sexual health programs in diverse rural communities?

 

Stream 2 - continued - Gender and equity as social determinants of sexual health and respectful relationships
                                       Workshop: Sexual Health through the lens of gender and power.
                                       Why is this important and what is the current contect in our rural communities.

Facilitated thematic panel/workshop format for 1.5 hours.

10am Key note address: Associate Professor Jane Hocking – Overview of the ACCEPt project in rural settings including local findings from the Victorian data.

 

10.30 Professor Kerry Arabena: Aboriginal Sexual Health

 

11am Dr Alan Crouch: Addressing sexual health inequity in far north Queensland Indigenous communities.

 

11.30 Associate Professor Jane Tomnay: CERSH – what we offer rural workers and service providers.

 

12 – 1pm Lunch and poster viewing or (optional from 12.30pm – 1pm), participants are invited to walk the Labyrinth at the Rural Health Academic Centre with Dr. Helen Malcom.
