Travel Information |
Airport
Most international visitors will want to fly into Dublin
Airport (DUB) as Kilkenny is about a 2-hour journey from Dublin and has no international airport. Note: At the end
of the conference when departing from Dublin Airport on an international
flight, it is recommended that you arrive at the airport at least 3 hours
before your flight.
Required Travel
Documents
You are responsible for securing any necessary travel
documents to enter the country. To enter
Ireland, you need a valid passport. In general, passports must be valid for the
duration of your stay and it is recommended that you have at least one blank
page remaining in your passport. You
should also travel with proof of your conference registration and hotel
booking. Some nationalities will also
need a Visa (see below).
UK citizens do not require a passport to enter Ireland, but carriers by air or sea require some form of identification with a photograph (usually either a passport or driving license with photo). EU citizens are required to have a passport or national identity card; while citizens of all other countries must have a valid passport. ALWAYS check what form of ID is required with your individual airline, ferry company or travel agent before traveling.
VISA REQUIREMENTS: Check the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration website to see if you need a Visa to travel to Ireland.
(http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/check-irish-visa). If one is needed, it is recommended that you submit your visa request at least eight weeks before you travel.
If you are required to apply for a Visa and need a letter from the event organizer, email a request for the letter (including what information it must contain) to Stefanie@TextileExchange.org.
