Bob Besley

Silver City Minerals is a base and precious metals explorer with a focus on the Broken Hill district of NSW. The Company plans to drill-test a number of high quality, Broken Hill look-alike targets close to the iconic orebody at Broken Hill. Mr Besley is Chairman of Silver City Minerals Ltd (ASX;SCI), a Director of KBL Mining Limited (ASX;KBL), and a Director of the non listed mining company Murray Zircon Pty Ltd and has more than 40 years experience in the Mining Industry. He managed the creation, listing and operation of two successful mining companies; CBH Resources Limited which he lead as Managing Director from a small exploration company to Australia’s 4th largest zinc producer; and Australmin Holdings Limited (acquired by Newcrest) which brought into production a gold mine in WA and mineral sands mine in NSW. More recently he was a founding director of KBL Mining that operates the Mineral Hill copper-gold mine in NSW, and Chairman on listing of Silver City Minerals that is focused on the discovery of Broken Hill type silver-lead-zinc deposits. Mr Besley has served in a number of Government advisory roles including several years as Deputy Chairman of the NSW Minerals Council He holds a BSc (Hons) in Economic Geology from the University of Adelaide and he is a Member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists.
 
Bede Boyle

Bede Boyle is a Corporate and Business Strategist to the Coal Industry, Rail and Port Operations, METS and Equity Investors. His clients include BHP, BlueScope Steel, Elliot Advisors USA, Exxaro Coal Australia, Genesee Wyoming Inc., Port of Newcastle, NSW Powercoal [privatisation], NSW FreightCorp [privatisation], NSW Mineral Resources, PWCS, Vale and Xstrata Coal. He was Founding Chairman of AustCoal Consulting Alliance and was appointed by GVK Hancock Coal to manage OPEX Reviews, Board Reports and Presentations for proposed 32Mtpa Alpha Galilee Mine, Rail and Port Project. Bede was Manager Technical Services with Coal and Allied and fulfilled leadership roles as Leader Liddell Colliery Longwall Project and Project Coordinator for the planning and development of Hunter Valley No 1 Mine, CHPP and Rail Loading Facilities. He was Chairman of the Australian Coal Association Environmental Committee and was instrumental in developing the strategy to secure the Mount Pleasant Coal Area for Coal & Allied and subsequently Anvil Hill for Powercoal privatisation. Manufacturship assists Manufacturers and Business Enterprises, Defence and Heavy Industry, Mining and METS achieve superior Return on Investment. Manufacturship was founded by Jason Furness, following a senior executive career at GM Holden and Electrolux.
 
Dr Alan Broadfoot

Dr Alan Broadfoot is well known for his innovations in industry and is currently the Director of the Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources (NIER) at the University of Newcastle, a position he has held since 2010. Charged with an ambitious agenda linking industry and academia for transformational research in energy and resources efficiency, productivity and sustainability, Alan’s strategic direction and enterprising leadership has promoted a number of new and exciting initiatives at NIER, aligned to emerging challenges and national priorities associated with the sector. Alan holds a Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Engineering and Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Honours) from the University of Newcastle and has forged a solid career in (engineering and business management) since graduating. An Electrical Engineer in various roles from 1985, Alan joined leading electrical design and manufacturing company, Ampcontrol in 1991 and held a number of senior management positions, including Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer from 2005 – 2010. Under Alan’s stewardship, the company grew from $32million to in excess of $270million with the expansion of the group to twenty-six companies worldwide. In 2006 he was awarded Engineers Australia’s Professional Engineer of the Year. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia and was Chair of the Australian Industry Group Hunter Manufacturing Council from 2004 to 2009. He is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and sits on a number of executive industry and research advisory committees.
 
Ian Chalmers

Ian Chalmers has worked in the resources industry for over 45-years with a wealth of experience both in Australia and internationally. He is skilled in the exploration, development and production phases of major mining projects with particular expertise in gold, nickel, specialty metals and rare earths. Ian has worked at Alkane Resources since 1986, where his leadership has seen the company grow from 10 people to more than 150 people. He has spearheaded the development of two mines in regional NSW, Peak Hill Gold Mine and Tomingley Gold Operations, with a third major project, the billion-dollar Dubbo Zirconia Project, due to begin production in 2017.
 
Aaron Colleran

Aaron Colleran - BEng (Geology), BCom (Finance), MAICD. Aaron was originally an exploration geologist with experience in Australia and Papua New Guinea across a range of commodities. He has spent most of his career working in the finance industry, initially as a mining analyst with a global stock broking firm and more recently in investment banking where he provided strategic corporate advice to junior and mid-tier mining companies in Australia and Asia. He has over 20 years of experience in mining finance and corporate advice and has led a number of successful corporate transactions (acquisitions, takeovers and mergers), equity raisings and project financings.
 
Theodore Dow

Theodore Dow has over 25 years of experience in treasury, finance and banking. A mezzanine and high yield debt specialist, during the course of his career, Mr Dow has completed over 60 transactions with an aggregate enterprise value of approximately $30 billion. He was most recently Managing Director of DIF Capital Partners, a boutique funds management and advisory operation which has raised in excess of $580 million in institutional commitments over its history for investment in private debt, hybrid capital, equity-linked bonds and private equity. DIF, wholly owned by its staff, commenced operations in 2003 with backing from Babcock & Brown. Mr Dow holds an Advanced MBA from the University of Queensland, a Masters in Financial Management from Manchester Business School (UK), a Postgraduate Degree from Kansai Gai Dai University (Japan) and a Magna Cum Laude Honors BA Degree in Economics from Boston University.
 
Charlie Dowsett

Charlie Dowsett joined the Department in December 2012 and is currently the Executive Director of Industry Investment & Export Support. (II&ES) The II&ES Branch works to attract local and offshore investment into the energy and resources sector. The Branch is a primary contact point for industry, to actively engage and liaise with Government. II&ES also assists companies navigate and negotiate with Government Departments to achieve positive development outcomes. Charles has over 25 years experience in resources and energy having worked in the private sector in investment banking in Asia, Europe and Australia as an Executive Director: Head of Commodities for Asia Pacific and the Global Head of Precious Metals for both The Royal bank of Scotland and ABN AMRO Bank NV. Charles has also worked as a commodity and resources banking specialist and consultant at NM Rothschild & Sons Australia, and Citibank Australia. Colin George

Colin has more than 20 years’ experience in banking in Australia and the UK. Prior to joining EFIC in 2003, he held positions in trade finance with National Westminster Bank and worked in structured trade and commodity finance with Standard Chartered Bank, ING and Rabobank.
 
Miles George

Miles George is the Managing Director of Infigen Energy and has over 20 years’ experience in business development, investment, financing and management roles in the infrastructure and energy sectors in Australia, the US and Europe. Over the past 13 years Miles has been focused on development, investment, financing and management in the renewable energy industry. Miles undertook a leading role in the development of Infigen’s first wind farm project at Lake Bonney in South Australia, commencing in 2000. In 2003 Miles jointly led the team which established the renewable energy business now known as Infigen Energy. In 2005 Miles jointly led the Initial Public Offer and listing of Infigen’s business on the ASX. Following listing, Miles continued to work on the development, financing and management of Infigen’s wind farm investments in Australia, the US and Europe. He was appointed as Managing Director of Infigen Energy in 2009. Miles holds degrees of Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Business Administration (Distinction) from the University of Melbourne. Miles was appointed as Chairman of the Board of the Clean Energy Council in December 2013.

Christine Gibbs Stewart is the CEO of Austmine, the peak industry association representing the Australian mining equipment, technology and services (METS) sector. She has over 25 years of experience in international business, industry development and general management. Chris has worked across a number of different industries including mining, food and beverage, HVAC, IT, design, construction, aviation and automotive. Clients have included leading small, medium and large Australian companies, State and Commonwealth Government Departments and foreign governments departments including in China, Thailand, Brazil, China, Chile and the USA. Chris has a BA in Political Science from the University of Michigan, USA, and an MBA in International Management from the University of Technology, Sydney.
 
Matthew Gill

Matthew Gill is a mining engineer with over 30 years' experience. He has a strong technical and operational background, having worked as an underground miner, mine planning engineer, supervisor, general manager and managing director, in Australia, Papua New Guinea, India and Singapore. He holds three First Class Metalliferous Mine Manager’s Certificates of Competency and has been instrumental in the successful development of three gold mines (Porgera, Beaconsfield and Ballarat). He is a three-time winner of the Australian Mine Manager of the Year Award and has received the AusIMM Leadership Award. Currently Chief Operating Officer of White Rock Minerals, he has worked for Renison Goldfields, Placer Pacific, WMC and Rio Tinto.
 
Dr John Greenfield

John Greenfield is the Director of the Geological Survey of NSW. He has a 1st Class Honour degree from the University of Wollongong and a PhD from the University of Sydney. After four years mapping in the Yilgarn for the Geological Survey of WA, he joined CSIRO Exploration & Mining working on mineral systems, and as a consultant, he worked in Venezuela on orogenic gold targets. He has been with the Geological Survey of NSW for the last ten years.
 
Bernie Hogan

Bernie Hogan is the Regional Manager (QLD, NT, NSW, VIC) for the Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC). He has a background in international business both in the public and private sector. Mr Hogan has spent many years working with service companies focused on the resources and construction sectors both within Australia and offshore. Prior to this, Bernie has held senior executive roles with the Embassy of Australia in Washington DC for the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade, and as General Manager with News Limited press and online media outlets.
 
John Kaminsky

John Kaminsky -B. App.Sci (RMIT, Chemistry with Distinction) and MBA (Melbourne Business School). John became a Director of Rimfire Pacific Mining in April 2004, then assumed the role of Executive Chairman in 2005 ~ March 2015 and is currently CEO and MD. He has a strong strategic and international business background particularly in Asia, where he was based in South Korea for more than 10 years. As the South Korea Country President for Elders Resources in the late 1980’s, he represented BHP, INCO Nickel, Tioxide, US Borax, BP Chemicals, Neste Petroleum, amongst many other suppliers. Activities included trading and marketing of chemicals, plastics, metals, minerals, ores, concentrates and energy products. Subsequent to Elders Resources, John maintained a portfolio of interests including international trade in raw materials, management consulting, venture capital, technology transfer and government representative work. Positions held whilst in Korea during the 1990’s also included inaugural Chairman of the Australian Chamber of Commerce, Representative Director for the State of Victoria and global President and Director for Moldflow International, a high technology software company which was successfully listed on the US Nasdaq in 2000. John has brought this diverse experience to the Board and operations of Rimfire Pacific Mining. The Company established the Sorpresa Gold and Silver greenfield discovery at Fifield NSW in 2011, an area historically known for its platinum mineralization. More than 30 mineralized prospects are now known within a 6km radius of the Sorpresa Discovery and are currently being pursued.

Ian’s focus is on optimising the use of ARENA’s grant money to help proponents secure the sponsor equity, third party equity and project finance debt needed to bring projects to financial close. Ian possesses 15 years’ experience leading investment in infrastructure and development and commercialisation of renewable energy projects at Origin Energy and Macquarie Group. He has particular skill in managing joint venture partnerships and a track record of designing innovative transaction structures. Ian brings a depth of experience to ARENA and has originated, developed and led projects totalling more than $12billion in enterprise value and $3.7 billion total required equity commitment. He has experience of a broad range of renewable energy projects. Ian holds a Master of Arts (Honours) in Economic Science from Aberdeen University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (England and Wales).
 
Peter Leihn

Peter Leihn has worked across Australia and Asia with global ICT companies Hewlett-Packard and Autodesk developing markets for new technologies. Prior to joining NICTA Peter held several senior leadership positions in the NSW Government including heading the Office of the Director-General for Water and Energy, Director of the Office of the Chief Scientist and Engineer and Director of the Office for Science and Research where he drove policy development and program delivery in environmental management, renewable energy and research commercialisation. Peter holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Resource Management (Coastal) and a Masters of Environmental Science and Law. His interest is the deployment of leading edge technologies to achieve improved social, economic and environmental management outcomes.

Tim McKinnon

Tim Mckinnon began working in the mining industry in 1981 in the Nth Queensland tinfieds as a field geologist's assistant, and in 1984 started his own tin mining company the Mt Hartley Mining Company. More recently he has acquired the mineral rights to two of the top three unexploited gold deposits in Nth East NSW which are currently undergoing JORC resource estimation. Revolution Metals holds two exploration licenses in NSW for Group 1 metals, with the view to bring the assets into gold production.
 
Zane Prickett

Zane Prickett is a director at RIIT Unearthed, where he is working to bring startup-style innovation to the resources sector. Unearthed is a national program bringing productivity-enhancing technology products to bear on industry challenges in a matter of months. In addition, Zane is the managing director of DataReSource in Western Australia. DataReSource is specialist data vendor assisting oil and gas exploration companies in locating hard to find vintage and contemporary data. Prior to DataReSource and Unearthed, Zane earned his degree from Colorado School of Mines and worked 8+ years around the world as an engineer for a leading O&G service company.
 
Dr Ian Pringle

Dr Ian Pringle is an experienced minerals exploration geologist with a successful track record in discovery and development of mineral deposits within Australia, and SE Asia. Ian joined Broken Hill Prospecting Ltd as Managing Director in April 2011 and is currently focused on: 
  • Advanced studies on high-grade heavy mineral sand deposits (ilmenite, rutile, zircon) south of Broken Hill.  
  • Progressing BPL's very large, low-grade cobalt deposit which has resources of 35.7mt of cobalt-pyrite mineralisation and potential for another 37-59mt which equates to ~63-83,000t of contained cobalt. Sulphuric acid can be produced during future processing and could form the basis for processing phosphate, copper, nickel, rare earth and other minerals. 
Ian was previously MD of Geopacific Resources NL (exploration for gold and copper in Fiji) and Manager of Silver Standard Australia Pty Ltd (Bowdens Silver Deposit). 

During a six year stint as Exploration Manager at Oxiana Resources Ltd, Ian had a leading role in Oxiana’s purchase and subsequent development of the Sepon gold and copper mines in Laos. Prior to Oxiana, Ian was Exploration Manager at Cobar Mines Ltd and held positions as Senior Geologist with Nord Resources (Girilambone copper), CSR (Lerokis gold-silver-copper) and Elf Aquitaine.
 
David Sproule

David Sproule founded Polymetals and has over twenty eight years' experience in the mining industry encompassing project generation and assessment, development, operational management and corporate experience. In 1986, during his final year at the Western Australian School of Mines, David registered Meerschaum Gold which subsequently became Polymetals. Whilst overseas as a recipient of an inaugural bursary offered to two Australian graduates by the West German company Metallgesellschaft AG, David consolidated his view that there was enormous opportunity within the Australian resources industry for a young entrepreneur. Returning to Australia, David spent his early years contracting his services on process plant construction moving to minority equity/ joint venture interests and management of various gold projects within the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia. Following several years contracting in Tanzania he raised $600,000 from family and friends to purchase the Mt Boppy plant and tenements, the platform used to develop Polymetals' first wholly-owned operation re-treating a silver/gold tailing transported to the site. Polymetals went on to develop and operate a number of precious and base metals projects in Australia. A Metallurgical Engineer, David was Managing Director until December 2007 when he was appointed Chairman. Polymetals listed publicly in 2011 as Polymetals Mining Limited with David remaining as Chairman and major shareholder. The company subsequently merged with Southern cross Goldfields Limited, changing its name to Black Oak Minerals. Black Oak owns and operates the Manuka Silver Mine and the Mt Boppy Gold Mine both located to the east and south of the NSW mining town of Cobar respectively.
 
Wayne Taylor

Wayne Taylor has over 25 years’ experience in the mining industry including mine operations, project commissioning, project evaluation and acquisition, and exploration in the base and precious metals fields. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) degree from the University of New South Wales and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of New England. Wayne joined TriAusMin Ltd in May 2011, as the CEO/Managing Director, and upon the merger with Heron Resources in August 2014, he was appointed as the CEO/Managing Director of Heron Resources. He has held has held senior operational management roles with Western Mining Corporation and Glencore International’s Australian operations. For the six years prior to joining TriAusMin Wayne managed Glencore’s base metal business development based out of Australia which involved assessing mining projects throughout the world.
 
Kane Thornton

Kane Thornton is Chief Executive of the Clean Energy Council, the peak body for the renewable energy and energy efficiency industry in Australia. Kane has over a decade's experience in energy policy and leadership in the development of the clean energy industry. Kane has advocated for and helped design the policies that have been critical to the clean energy industry's growth, and continues to be an active political advocate, public presenter and spokesperson for the clean energy industry. His previous roles include senior manager and advisor for Hydro Tasmania – Australia's largest generator of renewable energy – and executive officer of Renewable Energy Generators Australia. Kane has broad international management experience including holding a range of advisory and board roles with government and non-government organisations in the climate change and energy sector. 
 
Rob Tyson

Rob Tyson, Managing Director of Peel Mining, is a geologist with more than 20 years resources industry experience having worked in exploration and mining-related roles for companies including Cyprus Exploration, Queensland Metals Corporation, Murchison Zinc, Normandy Mining and Equigold.
 
Casey van Loo

Casey van Loo worked in an operational role in the underground coal mining industry for over 10 years. In that time, he operated exclusively in the contracting space, carrying out and ultimately overseeing Coal Cutting and Installation projects of considerable size and scope. As a qualified Mining Engineer, Casey brings a broader understanding of the mining process and client objectives beyond the limits of a given contract or production phase. Acting within a joint venture design, supply and construct arrangement, Casey was responsible for large underground materials handling projects with direct impacts on mine operations and he worked closely with mine planning and operational teams. Casey completed his education in Business Management and assumed the role of Commercial Manager for an emerging Publically Listed Mining Contractor, responsible for all operational financial reporting and forecasting for the mining division. He was part of a successful management buy-out of the company, which also involved bringing the company through an IPO process, and had direct involvement in acquisitions and due diligence processes.
 
Peter Williams

Peter Williams is a metallurgist with over 10 year’s operational experience across a number of commodities and sites in Australia, and he also has over 10 years’ experience in banking and finance. Peter was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Aus Tin Mining Limited in January 2013 and since then has successfully progressed the Taronga Tin Project, located in the northern NSW, through to a completed Pre-Feasibility Study. Peter is delighted to be able to provide an update on the Taronga Tin Project.
 
Mick Wilson

Mick Wilson grew up in Central NSW, graduated from ANU with an Economics degree and an Honours Degree in Geology. Mick has been with the Helix in various technical and management roles for over eighteen years and has played a major role in establishing the Company’s current project portfolio. Mick championed the Company’s return to the Cobar Region in 2009 and entry into Latin America, specifically Chile. His experience includes company management; project development, mineral exploration using geology, geochemistry, geophysics and drilling; ore resource drilling, ore resource estimation and evaluation programs.
