Go Red For Women (GRFW) Campaign strategies 2011-12

The Go Red for Women campaign is the annual awareness raising campaign targeting women to raise the profile about heart disease and encourage them to take action to reduce their risks. It is a multi-faceted campaign that runs in June every year including social marketing, corporate sponsorship, engagement with networks of community, health and research organisations and notifying GP’s.

There are five key strategies that underpin GRFW:

1) Increase awareness that HD is a relevant issue for women

2) Develop practical ways for women to engage with and prioritise their heart health

3) Build networks of women who inspire and motivate other women towards reducing their risks and improving their heart health

4) Provide opportunities to build community support to enable fundraising to occur at a local level

5) Build and maintain GRFW sponsorship support through strategic integration

Campaign Engagement - Healthy Heart Challenge
The Healthy Heart Challenge will provide an integrated platform for the Heart Foundation to engage with its female GRFW target audience aged 45-64 years by building campaign awareness, delivering health messages and engaging the support of corporate sponsors. Running from June - August, women who sign up for the 10-week Challenge will choose a goal(s) that suits their lifestyle and receive support from the Heart Foundation to achieve this.

Proposition
The Healthy Heart Challenge (HHC) is a 10 week program based on the Heart Foundation’s risk awareness, health check information, physical activity, smoking cessation, clinical and nutrition guidelines. With an emphasis on awareness raising, women would be encouraged to undertake practical changes as part of their daily routine in conjunction with their friends or colleagues.
