Submit an abstract
The PLA Queensland State Conference aims to share emerging research, best practice, innovative workplace tools, models and ideas.The conference is the year’s best opportunity for parks and leisure professionals to share experiences and learnings.
The Conference ensures many opportunities to discuss and explore ideas as well as learn about cutting edge practice and research. The conference supports people who have new and innovative concepts, theories and ideas to test and share with colleagues.
The Conference Organising Committee is seeking proposals for:
- Keynote addresses (30+) mins
- Single or shared oral presentations (20 mins)
- Workshops
The theme of the conference is Active Places - Active Connections
TOPICS: research, projects, programs, innovative ideas, stories, case studies and issues for workshopping relating to:
Day 1 Activating people and spaces
There will be space for keynotes, workshops or short presentations on some great projects or research. The following themes are suggested:
- Active Recreation
- Megatrends in sport
- Activating public open spaces and places
- Active Regional Hubs
Day 2 - Active Transport - Connecting people and places
- How to increase the community's levels of physical activity
- Active transport options for the regions and metropolitan areas
- Walkability
- Infrastructure needs to build more active Queensland communities
Speaker/Presenters should expect to register for the conference and will be offered discount "speaker" rates for day long or full (two day) attendance.
Presenter Nomination Process
- Abstracts must be submitted using the online system.
- Acknowledgement of the receipt of abstracts will be made by email.
- Information required with any abstract submission:
- Title of presentation/ workshop
- Session type (single presentation, shared presentation, workshop)
- Length of session (Keynote 30+mins or Single/Shared presentation 20 mins, workshop 30 or 60 mins)
- Presenter name(s), presenters's position and workplace/company
- Abstract - A summary of 100 - 150 words describing the issue/presentation. Abstracts will be used in the Conference Program
