CAPITAL REGION ACTION AGAINST BREAST CANCER
(CRAAB!)
"Empowering People Affected by Breast Cancer"
Capital Region Action Against Breast Cancer! (CRAAB!) is non-profit, community-based organization created in 1997 by a diverse of caregivers, health practitioners, educators, advocates and several breast cancer survivors who know first-hand about the shock of a cancer diagnosis and the need to find support to make the eradication of breast cancer a priority through education, advocacy, and services. Members' personal experiences as survivors, caregivers, and informed health consumers, combined with commitment to evidence-based medicine and informed decision-making, gives CRAAB! a unique perspective.
The goals include supporting those affected by the disease on an individual and personal level; improving healthcare policy for all women; promoting innovative research on diagnosis and treatment; and focusing attention on the causes of breast cancer.
CRAAB! provides programs for people who are currently undergoing treatments, as well as for those who have completed treatments. On-going educational programs on topics such as primary prevention of cancer, environmental links to cancer, potential risk reduction through nutrition and exercise, and the genetic factors of the disease are sponsored by CRAAB!
Capital Region Action Against Breast Cancer as a 501 (c) (3) organization is governed by an active and committed board of directors and officers. It has now reached its 16th year of providing education, support services and advocacy for breast cancer survivors, their families and caregivers, as well as the general public of the Greater Capital Region.
