A SALUTE TO VALOR:
PALAWAN LIBERATION
______________________________________________________
ABOUT THE EVENT
The year 2015 marked the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the island of Palawan during World War II. The road to freedom was not an easy one and many sacrifices had to be made. Many brave Filipino and American men and women fought side-by-side and gave their lives in the hope of peace. The U.S. liberation forces and Filipino soldiers fought together to finally end the Japanese occupation in Palawan. Over 100 American soldiers were massacred at Plaza Cuartel and 1000 Filipino guerillas took part in the events leading to this liberation. Now on its 73rd year, it is in this spirit that we honor not only those who sacrificed their lives but all those who contributed to this historical event in
“A Salute to Valor: Palawan Liberation”. This event is to commemorate the continued alliance between the two nations which will take place from April 21 – 23, 2018 in the City of Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
