ORL 2015 Conference

KIA ORA

On behalf of the Organising Committee, I would like to invite you to the 68th Annual General and Scientific Meeting of the New Zealand Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.

We are delighted to be able to host the conference in sunny Nelson, at the top of the South Island. The scenery is spectacular and the opportunities for outdoor activities are superb. From mountain biking to kayaking to tramping in one of our three beautiful national parks, it’s all out there. Or, if you would rather relax in the sun, our local vineyards, craft beers and food producers are internationally acclaimed. The Nelson-Tasman region is also home to more than 350 working craftspeople, many welcoming visitors to their studios.

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Enhancing Life’. Much of our work in otolaryngology enhances the lives of our patients, in both surgical and non-surgical interventions. New technologies and innovations are allowing us to continually improve our outcomes, as is the increased use of tools such as audit and the development of non-technical skills. Multidisciplinary interactions and collaboration with allied specialties such as speech and language therapists, specialist nurses and audiologists are important in improving the overall patient journey. We have invited an outstanding group of international and national speakers to discuss and debate these topics.  While encompassing the clinical aspects of otolaryngology, the conference will also cover wider practice issues and work-life balance – perhaps offering ways to enhance our own lives. The social and leisure events will showcase Nelson’s best.

Please join us in this ideal opportunity to update yourself, interact with local and international experts across a broad range of disciplines, refresh old relationships and forge new ones.
