Training Workshops - Day 1

Monday, 17th November 2014 - Full day of iMIS training workshops 
The Discovery Conference will commence on Monday, 17th November with hands-on training workshops. Attend this full day training where you will be able to choose 2 workshops from 10 half-day sessions! 

To get the most out of the training workshop all delegates are required to bring or hire from NiUG a laptop for use in these training sessions. 
Each attendee will also be provided with their own iMIS 20 environment to work from during the training.


Morning Workshops - 9:00am - 12:30pm

SSRS for iMIS Reporting 
Format: Hands On Training
Trainer: Jay McCormack, 3 Degrees North

This session will introduce you to SSRS and how to use this powerful SQL tool to present data.  You will create reports, apply presentation quality formatting and add these reports into iMIS for everyday use.  Move over Crystal - we promise it won't be painful to make the transition! 

Laptops are required for each attendee.  We recommend that you bring your own laptop, however a limited number will be available for hire as part of the registration process.

Getting your Public Site Up and Running
Format: Hands On Training 
Trainer: Bilal Jeewa, Pseudocode 

This session will focus on getting a website up and running - basing it on an existing member reference site.  Have a look at the themes and templates that are available out-of-the-box and learn about iparts, html content, tagging and security. Go ahead and build something great!

Each attendee will have their own iMIS 20 image on which to work.

Financials Start to Finish
Format: Hands On Training

This session will have you carrying out many of the iMIS financial functions.  You will be entering and editing transactions, managing batches, working through settings and standard reporting, fixing transaction issues and much more. Get the skills and knowledge you need to manage your organisations money more efficiently!

iMIS Overview 
Format: Hands On Training

This session is designed for people new to iMIS and for those looking for a refresher to remind them what iMIS is capable of.  You will see what is new in iMIS 20 including the staff site and we will take you through the iMIS core modules to ensure you know the basics of what iMIS has to offer your organisation.  Always a conference favourite!

Each attendee will have their own iMIS 20 image on which to work.

Fundraising from Start to Finish
Format: Hands On Training

This session will help you get started with iMIS fundraising. Learn the difference between funds, campaigns, appeals, distributions and donor clubs . We will cover donation entry, monthly giving, matching gifts & memorial/tributes.  There are just so many great reports within the Fundraising module, and we'll show you the best!

Afternoon Workshops - 1:30pm - 5:00pm

Introduction to iMIS Task Centre 
Format: Hands on Training 
Trainer: Leo Papageorgiou, Pseudocode 

This session will give you an introduction to this workflow automation tool.  See how to configure your application and create your own tasks.  Trigger an email to send when a specific action is made, and schedule a change to be made at a certain time.  With such a powerful tool your iMIS experience can be even better!

Getting your Staff Site Up and Running
Format: Hands On Training

This session will show you just how easy it can be to get your Staff Site up and running. Using iparts, IQA's and dashboards, we will show you how to configure your Staff Site to be useful for you!  Take a look at the brand new Communication Suite just released and how it works to get personalised emails out to your people- and even include attachments!

iMIS iQA and Business Object Development 
Format: Hands On Training
Trainer: Mick Varga, 3 Degrees North 

This session will take a look at how Business Objects work.  They are the glue that holds iMIS iQA Reporting together.  We will show you how to modify, manipulate and create your own Business Objects for improved reporting and access to data.  IQA will become even more important!

iMIS iQA for Beginners 
Format: Hands On Training
Trainer: Robert Lane, Lane Services 

This session will focus on basic IQA functions.  Learn how to use joins and filters to extract accurate and useful data that is just sitting there in your iMIS database!  We will give you lots of hints along the way making the mystery of IQA seem much less like a mystery and much more like your new favourite tool!

iMIS Membership from Start to Finish
Format: Hands On Training 
Trainer: Amanda Kirk, KiSS Consulting 

This session will help you get an indepth overview and understanding how the Billing Module works.  We will look at setting up a billing cycle along with products and their special pricing and then how to use these in our own organisations.  From setup to output, take a look at how we make this module work for a range of scenarios!!
