CPD for New Lawyers: Advocacy Skills
The Law Society of Scotland and Ampersand have developed a six part seminar programme to provide information and training for New Lawyers working in the area of litigation or who simply want to improve their legal skills. The CPD for New Lawyers programme is designed for trainees and New Lawyers up to two years PQE.

The Advocacy Skills seminar is designed to build on Introduction to Advocacy Skills. The seminar re-caps on the fundamentals of case preparation and the key components of effective communication and thereafter concentrates on proof, examination in chief, cross-examination, discrediting and submissions.

This seminar is presented by an Ampersand Advocate.

By the end of the seminar you will:

- Understand the key elements of case preparation with an emphasis on proof
- Understand the essential aspects of effective examination and cross-examination
- Be able to structure and present submissions to maximise your persuasiveness
