James Billingham (Chair)
Head of Skills - Service Design
Ingeus

James commenced his career in logistics at Corus Distribution (2000) as a product development engineer and account manager. A career change into the training and development industry led him to become a National Account Manager for logistics training providers delivering learndirect provision and then moved to become Regional Manager for Skills for Logistics (2005-2008). During this time he championed Skills for Life within the logistics sector and was a national lead within the supply chains of automotive and removals.

Subsequently, he has worked in roles as Head of Operations, Managing Director and Product & Implementation manager for private training providers. He recently joined leading national employment and training provider Ingeus Training in the role of Head of Skills – Service Design.

Over the last 12 months, he has been involved in multiple projects linked to the logistics sector. This includes working with logistics stakeholders in London to establish the first Logistics Group Training Association and working with logistics organisations to deliver relevant, specialist training programmes with an evidenced return on investment.

He is passionate in the role of AELP Logistics Skills Champion working with logistics training providers in raising the profile of the industry and working with employers and stakeholders across the country to promote the quality of training, expertise and knowledge that AELP logistics providers posses and deliver.

Sarah Bell
Business Engagement Manager
University of Derby

Sarah Bell joined the University of Derby as Senior Business Engagement Manager in November 2015.  In her new role she will partner with the logistics sector, an industry that she has worked in for 19 years.  Primarily at TNT UK Ltd, Sarah has progressed her career through various positions and functions, gaining experience in Customer Service, Sales, Operations, Learning and Development and wider HR.  In her last role as Head of Learning and Talent Development, she was responsible for the attraction and development of UK employees, creating solutions for many topical Logistics challenges such as; driver shortage, apprenticeships, women in Logistics and the attraction of young people to the sector. 

Sarah joined the University to be part of a newly created Business Engagement Team.  “I am delighted to be part of the new Business Engagement team at UoD and enjoy applying my sector knowledge and L&D expertise in a new context.  From my experience in a corporate environment, I know that there are so many opportunities for the University to connect and engage with businesses to create lifelong, business beneficial partnerships.  I am proud to work in the Logistics sector and excited about supporting its future growth.”



Matthew Watson
General Manager - Scania Optimise Services
Scania

Matthew has been involved in technical support for most of the last 25 years. He has worked in a consultant capacity for many vehicle manufacturers including all the Volkswagen Group brands, Ford, Peugeot, Citroen and Honda. At Scania he has responsibility for Scania's outsourced training services and the sales of the Scania OnBoard telematics as General Manager Optimise Services.



Sue Tilley
Economic Strategy Manager - Business 
Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP)

In her role at the LLEP Sue is responsible for driving forward opportunities to deliver the strategic aims of the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) as set out in the LLEP’s Strategic Economic Plan and governed by the LLEP Board.

Sue works to develop and maintain strong working relationships with business and other partners at both national, govenment and local level; facilitating and leading meaningful collaborations and initiatives to delivery economic growth for Leicestershire.

Sue has extensive business experience having successfully established and operated her own Leicester-based design and manufacturing company; marketing the Company’s Corporate capabilities and full range of corporate clothing and securing significant contracts from major blue chip Companies such as Toyota, First Group, Stena Line, Holiday Inns to name but a few.  Having Identified one of the UKs largest private sector investors as the best strategic fit for business growth plans, subsequently sold the business to become part of the Cadogan Group of Companies. 

Sue then worked as Business Development Director for Alexandra plc before moving to work in Economic Development working to promote Leicester and Leicestershire as the destination of choice for business

Weekends you will find Sue in her garden or walking the dog enjoying the Leicestershire countryside.




Stephen Ram Kissun
Head of Membership and Marketing

I am responsible for the recruitment of training organisations into AELP membership and growing membership up to 1,000 members over next two years. Remit includes the promotion of AELP branded communications/associated member services, marketing services, and social media activities; development of new services/benefits for members, fostering new business development opportunities and building new collaborative arrangements with key stakeholders involved in learning, skills and employability provision.
