James Billingham (Chair) James commenced his career in logistics at Corus Distribution
(2000) as a product development engineer and account manager. A career change
into the training and development industry led him to become a National Account
Manager for logistics training providers delivering learndirect provision and
then moved to become Regional Manager for Skills for Logistics (2005-2008).
During this time he championed Skills for Life within the logistics sector and
was a national lead within the supply chains of automotive and removals. |

Brian Szukala Over 20 years experience of identifying needs, designing and delivering training in highly regulated sectors. Previous UK Head of Training for two of the worlds largest pharmaceutical companies. Expertise in behavioural change programmes, performance management, workforce development and managing compliance in Logistics and Life Science sectors. Key Transport Related Projects Contract programme manager with Skills for Logistics, managing several
skills related projects, from creating company based professional development
stairways using UK National Occupational Standards, to employer engagement on a
variety of key UK skills topics. Project managed the implementation of UK logistics
apprenticeship programmes into China via the British Council and various
Chinese trade bodies.. Project managed development of two new Apps for the
logistics sector: www.logisticsHR.org
and www.thestairway.org which, in
conjunction with a UK waste transport operator, won the Training Motor
Transport award in 2014. In 2011/2012, project managed a global training project with UNICEF on managing risk in their medical supply chain and with the 2012 Olympics transport committee, LOCOG and Transport for London, in developing and delivering logistics workshops in and around London. Regularly design, develop and deliver courses for Transport for London (FORS) on performance improvement and compliance management topics, both for drivers and managers. Also subject expert on the development of online learning materials for three compliance based learning programmes. Expertise in developing and implementing quality standards, designing
and delivering training programmes
(including e-learning) and performance improvement techniques. Delivered, and chaired, at over 100 seminars in the UK and
globally (Malaysia, Dubai, Qatar, Europe) on key transport legislation and
various performance improvement topics based around Lean and Six Sigma
processes. Previously General Manager for the training business within the Freight Transport Association (FTA), the biggest provider of Transport Manager CPC courses. Actively involved in several UK government related transport projects, providing strategic guidance on EU legislative changes (e.g., Driver CPC and Digital Tachographs) and various behavioural and skills related issues (e.g. Van Driver safety initiative). Previously board member on the IRU Academy and Eurotra, two international bodies investigating and identifying improvements on various skills related topics across EU member and non-member states. Previous member of the OCR Transport Manager CPC exam board and involved in updating the CPC syllabus. |

Sue Southwood Sue starter her career as a community literacy teacher in Norwich. She spent 10 years in the workplace where she set up and managed basic skills units at Ford Motor Company and then Transport for London where she started GCSE maths and English classes for employees (delivered around complex shift patterns!). After 9 years leading on basic skills for NIACE, Sue has recently joined the Education and Training Foundation as Programme Manager leading on English, Maths and SEND. |
