- How to manage regional musculoskeletal pain: principles and practice of articular and periarticular injection

The Joint Injection course will be largely workshop based allowing you to develop the skills to administer injections confidently.

 Learning Objectives:

At the end of this one-day course delegates will be able to:

  • Evaluate a patient with regional musculoskeletal pain and determine the most likely differential diagnosis.
  • Define a management plan for a patient with regional musculoskeletal pain.
  • Analyse the evidence base for each treatment modality available.
  • Decide when in the course of this illness you should consider a joint or periarticular injection and when or should this be repeated.
  • Discuss the risks and benefits of articular and periarticular injection and who should be performing injections.
  • Describe the surface anatomy and bony landmarks for injection of the knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist, ankle and foot.
  • Perform articular and periarticular injections at the knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist, ankle and foot, and evaluate the outcome.
