Dr Deborah Bateson is the Medical Director and Director of Clinical Services at  Family Planning NSW and is a well-known expert in reproductive and sexual health.  Deborah has worked in the field of reproductive and sexual health as a clinician, researcher and educator for over 15 years and has extensive experience overseeing the delivery of high quality and innovative family planning services for women and men nationally and internationally. She completed an undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Oxford University and a Master's degree in nutrition from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine prior to gaining a medical degree from the University of Hong Kong. Deborah has particular interests in adolescent sexual health, improving access to effective methods of fertility control as well as awareness-raising of sexual health issues amongst older people.  She has published widely and frequently provides expert commentary to the media. Deborah is a passionate advocate for the delivery of client-centered reproductive and sexual health services which make a significant impact on the lives of women around the globe.
