Jeff Klausner

Jeffrey D. Klausner, MD, MPH is a Professor of Medicine and Public Health at University of California, Los Angeles and Attending Physician in AIDS and Infectious Diseases at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center.  For more than 25 years Professor Klausner has been a leader in research and program evaluation in the prevention and control of sexually transmitted diseases including HIV infection.  From 1998-2010 Professor Klausner was Director of the STI Prevention and Control Section for the City and County of San Francisco. Following that he was Chief of the US CDC South Africa HIV and TB Branch.  Professor Klausner's current research interests are in the use of communications technology to increase access to HIV testing, the pathogenesis of syphilis, the detection of drug-resistant gonorrhea, the evaluation of rapid point-of-care diagnostic testing, scale-up of newborn circumcision and screening and treatment of STIs in pregnancy.  Prof. Klausner is the Senior Editor of the McGraw-Hill text book Current STI Diagnosis and Management.  He is Principal Investigator of the STAR STI Clinical Trials Group.
