Professor Goldberg is a Consultant Epidemiologist at Scotland's national infectious disease  epidemiology and control centre- Health Protection Scotland. He leads its Bloodborne Virus and STI programme .He holds professor of public health positions at Glasgow Caledonian University and  the University of Glasgow.He led the development and implementation of Scotland's Hepatitis C Action Plan.
