MEDS is a 1-day conference for pre-health students at UC San Diego School of Medicine and Skaggs School of Pharmacy. MEDS is a conference for UC San Diego and neighboring community college students hosted by the Undergraduate Research Hub (ugresearch.ucsd.edu) and Health & Medical Professions Preparation Program (HMP3) (hmp3.ucsd.edu).

MEDS stands for "Medical Education for Diverse Students," and is specifically designed to close the disparities seen in both medical education and health care.  The health care system needs professionals from diverse backgrounds, who can identify with an even more diverse group of patients. There will be workshops on all components of the application process — testing, writing personal statements, interviews, and more. On top of that, the UC San Diego School of Medicine and Pharmacy has invited conference attendees to participate in hands-on workshops in the brand-new patient simulation labs, just like first-year medical and pharmacy students.

The conference will take place on Saturday, April 16th at the Medical Education and Telemedicine Building. More information can be found at meds.ucsd.edu.

DISCLAIMER:The MEDS Team is hopeful to move forward with this in-person conference to enhance participants' experience. However, we might have to switch to a virtual modality depending on the COVID-19 situation, public health, and UC San Diego regulations as we approach the conference's date. Our team will notify you if we are required to switch modalities.

COVID-19 Protocol for the Conference:

• Mask required at all times for both vaccinated and unvaccinated attendees.
• UC San Diego students, staff, and faculty must show their daily symptom screener during check-in.
  • Must have a green or yellow thumb to attend. 
• Non-UCSD event attendees must follow all campus requirements, including providing proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result received within the last 48 hours during the event check-in.
• While California’s indoor mask mandate is in effect, food and drink are not allowed at indoor meetings or events. Feel free to step outside the building to eat.

Anyone who fails to comply with the protocol will be asked to leave the conference and no refund will be granted.
