Longer duration stays for astronauts are planned with the Artemis Missions to gather more data for human research, scientific work, and more experience for future missions. Humans will land near the south pole of the moon where previous missions have discovered promising ice reserves. Access to ice and other lunar resources are instrumental factors for exploration with Artemis Missions, and therefore, so is the decision of where to land.
This session will explore an activity where students will have a chance to compare different possible landing sites. Along with learning about lunar geology, this activity engages students in constructing an evidence-based argument by weighing the benefits and risks of a landing site.
