Event Description

The opioid epidemic continues to cause morbidity, mortality, and severe economic burdens in the United States. Biomedical informatics and diagnostics research is being applied to combat the epidemic using data from electronic health records, public health surveillance systems, and social media. A interdisciplinary approach is needed.

This symposium will feature panels of experts that span a wide variety of domains including biomedical informatics, diagnostics, clinicians, public health experts, health services, implementation scientists and other experts. This symposium will provide a critically-needed venue for encouraging additional collaborations between industry and academia to leverage the growing body of knowledge about this epidemic.

This symposium also features the College of Health Solutions (CHS) Student poster contest. Here, CHS students will display their research on biomedical informatics, biomedical diagnostics, and data science research. We will announce awards for top poster presentations.
