Lecture Topics
This training will cover the importance
of insects in legal investigations.
Specifically, the topics to be covered will
be:
1. Overview of entomology
2. How insects are used in legal
investigations
3. How to properly collect, preserve,
and send entomological specimens
*This will have a lecture and field component.
** This course is IAI approved for their crime scene investigation certification and recertification**
Instructor
Dr. Lauren Weidner is an Assistant Professor in Forensic Science at Arizona State University. She obtained her BS in Forensic Science from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 2010 followed by her PhD in Entomology from Rutgers University in 2016. Dr. Weidner is currently one of twenty board certified forensic entomologists in North America.
