Addressing Environmental Policy Through
Natural Gas Innovation

Kevin Larmer

Kevin Larmer is Manager, Innovation and Markets at the Canadian Gas Association.

In this role, Kevin is responsible for addressing all industry initiatives associated with:

  • Building critical mass to support the retention of existing natural gas markets
  • New residential, commercial and industrial energy users across Canada recognizing the value proposition of natural gas’ affordability and potential to reduce GHG emissions
  • Setting the direction and priorities nationally for new utility technology collaboration and implementation

These activities involve Kevin in key files such as RNG, hydrogen, building and energy efficiency standards, micro combined heat and power, natural gas heat pump development and construction heat practices to name a few.

In the area of RNG, Mr. Larmer has helped lead a number of related industry initiatives including the organization of the June 2018 Government of Canada RNG Workshop, the founding and advancement of RNG iNET (an information sharing network for all stakeholders involved in renewable energy) and the completion, with NRCan, of a milestone pan-Canadian RNG survey undertaken to better understand the RNG market place and the barriers impeding growth.

Kevin has a BA in English Literature from the University of Ottawa and also attended Mount Royal College in Calgary in Business Management and Marketing.

Prior to joining the CGA, Kevin had careers with BayCADD Solutions and Enbridge where he was involved with supervising field operations, application of performance inspection standards for pipeline construction and the control and issuing of the asset renewal and integrity work requirements of the operating groups in the eastern region of Enbridge gas Distribution.

Mr. Larmer has also had experience in customer connections within Enbridge Gas Distribution where he was responsible for ensuring the timely installation of gas lines involving cooperation with contractors, customers, municipalities and internal company departments on a daily basis.
