What is currently the biggest business challenge for creative services firms?

Retaining young talent is a huge challenge, as Gen Ys are constantly seeking out their next, more exciting career opportunity.  To retain this “Millenial” generation you have to understand what they’re looking for in their professional and personal lives, keep them challenged, vary their workload and help them focus on short-term, as well as long-term goals.


What’s the best way to keep your best employees?

Gen Y employees want their career paths to be highly personalized.  Encourage your employees to be creative and entrepreneurial in their approach to work.  Give them the flexibility to get their work done when and where it best suits them, as long as this is not a detriment to the rest of the organization. 

How much time should one spend managing vs. designing?

In order for young professionals to soar, they need to feel highly supported.  If you give Gen Y employees the tools, guidance and resources they need, which may take up a bit more time than you’ve historically dedicated to management, they will produce work unparalleled in its creativity.
