2018 Plant Leadership Workshop

Monday, September 17

Tuesday, September 18
7:30-11:30 am - Presentations

The workshop is for fabrication shop foremen, leadmen, and leadership personnel and will include educational topics on current trends and leadership and will provide opportunities to network with peers. 

Attendees are invited to participate in a tour of Forged Components, Inc.  Departures will be a 1:00 pm, there is limited capacity. 
Forged Components is a global leader in the forging and manufacturing of integral self-reinforced connections for ASME pressure vessels, butt-weld stub-end connections, studding outlets, heavy wall cylinders up to 140 inches in length, and ASME B16.47 Series A & B large diameter flanges and blinds
(Closed toe shoes required, all other necessary plant gear will be provided by Forged Components)

Participants can drive their own vehicle should they choose to do so. Directions will be available on site. Depending on traffic, those coming back to the hotel should arrive around 4:00 pm.

  • Jay Sampson of GiANT Worldwide on developing the best leaders and raising the standard of leadership. Their belief is that growing humble, liberating leaders will lead to less drama and insecurity within organizations, while at the same time improving productivity and health.  They want to raise up leaders who know themselves and lead themselves.  Leaders who know how to calibrate high support and high challenge are able to create a culture of empowerment and opportunity.

"Steel Fab Management in Today's Digital World," presented by Bill Kennedy, Vice President of Manufacturing and Dan Yoder, Master Scheduler, of Kennedy Tank and Manufacturing Co., Inc. They will share with you how their shop implemented digital tools to increase efficiency. 

"Supervising & Working with Generational Differences".
  This session will look at emerging challenges among the generations.  Don't let situations escalate to critical and costly workplace disputes and the difference between understanding and accepting the new normal.  Presented by Joe Bontke, M.ED., EEOC Training Institute.

Round Table 

  • 1 hour round table discussion led by Boardman and Kennedy Tank focusing on fabrication shop issues and current pressure vessel manufacturing practices
  • Open discussion on current trends that pressure vessel manufacturers are seeing
