Michael Eads is President of Sovereign Border Solutions, a boutique consultancy specializing in border management. He is a professional with 20 years of experience in in the field of trade and customs. Through the course of his career Mr. Eads has gained first-hand experience in virtually all aspects of global trade, including: trade policy, regulatory compliance, supply chain security and trade and customs related information technology (IT). For the last 10years, Mr. Eads has focused almost exclusively on IT related aspects of customs modernization and e-government solutions for cross-border trade. He has worked both in the private sector providing strategic advice to multinational traders and also in the public sector on customs modernization and business transformation projects throughout the world. In his current capacity he provides domain expertise to leading systems integrators and solution providers on both short and long term projects. He most recently served as Strategy Executive for Customs Modernization for the South African Revenue Service (SARS), where he was responsible for developing South Africa’s Customs modernization strategy and program. Mr. Eads received his Bachelor’s degree from the Ohio University and his Masters from Johns Hopkins. He is a past recipient of the WCO’s meritorious service award.
