Jürgen Ligi has been in charge of the finance of the Republic of Estonia since June 2009. Under his lead Estonia introduced the Euro as a currency in January 1st 2011. In 2010, the international economics publication Emerging Markets declared Jürgen Ligi as the best Minister of Finance in developing Europe. From 2005 till 2007 Mr. Ligi was the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Estonia. He was responsible for the integration of Estonia in the NATO. He was a member of the Parliament (Riigikogu) from 1995 to 2005 and from 2007 to 2009. Jürgen Ligi has a master's degree from Estonian Business School and has graduated from Tartu University in foreign economics and also in economic geography. Jürgen Ligi is a founding member and member of the board of the Estonian Reform Party.
