Doug Tweddle worked for UK Customs for over 40 years. He began as a front line anti-smuggling officer and ended up as the Director responsible for all the UK’s Customs activities. In between he was the project manager for the UK’s customs processing system (CHIEF), Head of Criminal Investigations, Collector (Regional Manager) for London Airports Customs, Director Compliance for HMRC and he spent five years as Director Compliance and Facilitation at the World Customs Organisation in Brussels. Since he reired Doug has become the Chairman of the UK’s Institute of Exports and International Trade, and is a part time senior adviser on Customs matters to the Crown Agents. This currently involves him being the strategic adviser to the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs.
