As an International Trade Policy Advisor at the European Shippers’ Council (ESC), Dennis Heijnen represents the interest on International Trade issues of business in Europe, whether they are manufactures, retailers or wholesalers – collectively referred to as shippers. Members are drawn from national shippers organizations. Many of the 100.000 shippers transport their goods across the European border. Besides his activities at the ESC, he is an European lobbyist for EVO - the Dutch Shippers Council - which has 20.000 members. Dennis Heijnen strives to improve the position of shippers in complying with customs procedures and contribute to IT innovation concepts which make the life of shippers easier. Dennis believes that better and high class IT solutions which are compatible with business management software solutions fasten the logistic process, increase the reliability and make it cheaper and more sustainable to get goods from one country to another. Besides, it creates good conditions for system based controls and it assures a proper collection of custom duties. Dennis is a graduate of the VU University Amsterdam with an MSc degree in Economics and an BSc degree in Political Science. Dennis also worked for the Dutch Permanent Representation at the World Trade Organisation.
