Bio
Franco Germano is Director, in the Major Projects Directorate at Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). Franco has extensive experience with customs and border programs, having been with the Agency since 1989 in various positions. As manager of CBSA’s Customs Commercial System, he implemented the Business Number and Tariff Simplification projects. In 2001, he represented Canada on the G7 Initiative to standardize and simplify Customs Data requirements – which became version 1 of the WCO Data Model. Over the last 10 years, Franco has been involved in the implementation of many CBSA Initiatives such as Advance Commercial Information (ACI), In-transit Container Targeting and the Container Security Initiatives under the Smart Border Action Plan. He is currently responsible for Single Window and Postal Modernization Initiatives and represents CBSA on the World Customs Organization Information Management Sub-Committee. Franco graduated from University of Ottawa in 1988 with an Honours degree in Management Science.
