ICCA Congress 2018
Congress charity

We feel it is important to give something back to the community where our congress takes place. Every year, since 2013, participants to ICCA Congresses have offered moral support and brought smiles to the local communities, with our Gifts of Love projects. Along with the help of the Local Host Committees of hosting destinations who assist us identify local charities and NGOs. Read about this year's Congress CSR Project below.

A loss of vision can have a devastating impact on someone’s life and their ability to be financially and socially independent, especially if they do not have access to the right medical care. In 2018, ICCA is working with United Arab Emirates-based charity Noor Dubai Foundation, helping to support their vision for a world free from avoidable forms of blindness. All proceeds from our Gifts of Love 2018 project and Fun Run and Walk, plus any other donations, will go to their various international and national projects.

Noor Dubai Foundation
Noor Dubai Foundation works to prevent blindness on a global scale through treatment, prevention, and education. They have three missions: treat, prevent, educate. Their main focus is to provide independence to those whose lives have been affected by loss of sight and halt the spread of diseases that cause blindness through accessible, free treatment, and spread their message of prevention through public education. They run several international and local outreach projects, such as Mobile Eye Camps and their UAE Treatment Program.

Launched as an initiative in 2008 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and later established as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) by Law in October 2010, the Foundation has so far helped over 27 million individuals from all over Africa and Asia by providing access to free treatments and prevention programmes, including the provision of eye glasses and medication. A member of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Initiatives Foundation (MBRGI) and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness(IAPB), Noor Dubai continues to strive towards fulfilling the Vision 2020 initiative of a world free from preventable forms of blindness.

ICCA Members Gifts of Love (GOL) Project 2018
This year, Congress delegates have the chance to give an extremely special gift: the gift of sight.

As part of their free, accessible treatment plans, the Noor Dubai Foundation collects and distributes glasses to their patients in need of vision aids. ICCA members, friends and partners are encouraged to bring glasses or sun glasses in good condition to the ICCA Congress 2018 in Dubai and donate them to the Foundation. Collection boxes will be available in the main Congress area for your old glasses or sunglasses. Can’t make it to the Congress? Send your gift with your colleague or peer who is attending!

At the end of the Congress, your Gifts of Love will be distributed to UAE residents with limited financial capabilities by volunteers from Dubai’s Department for Tourism and Commerce Marketing.

Your simple gift will leave a long-lasting impact on our host destination: a pair of glasses will not only provide someone with much-needed medical care, but also help improve their financial and social conditions and give them back their independence!

Charity Run ‘N’ Walk
The second ever ICCA Charity Run ‘N’ Walk in support of Noor Dubai Foundation will take place on Monday 12th November at the Dubai beachfront, overlooking the beautiful Arabian Gulf coastline. Click here for more information!

Also, instead of handing out speaker gifts, a donation to charity is made.

Dubai's sustainability initiatives

And while some initiatives are still on the horizon or in their planning phases, others are well underway and already making an impact, and will be affecting aspects of the delegate experience at the 57th ICCA Congress in Dubai.
