Bio

Before joining the WCO on 1 January 2011 as the Director of Compliance and Facilitation, Gaozhang Zhu occupied the post of Director General of the Department of International Cooperation at China Customs. From 1996 to 2000, he was the Customs Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of China to the European Union in Brussels with responsibility for all Customs issues related to the WCO and the European Communities including the Commission. Gaozhang holds a Master of Public Administration degree (Qinghua University, China), a Bachelor degree (Beijing Foreign Trade College, China), a Post Graduate Diploma (Qinghua University, China) and was a visiting scholar at Cambridge University in the UK from 1991 to 1992.
