2017 Entry criteria

When entering the 2017 Awards, please read through the following criteria for your chosen category (ies), which explain what the judging panel will be looking for when they judge the entries and select the winners.

The judging period for the Awards will be 1 July 2016- 30 June 2017. All entry forms should be submitted by Wednesday 26 July 2017.

The awards will be publicised internationally in the general and hedge fund media.

All awards finalists will be honoured — and the winners announced at a lunch ceremony on 12 September at Plaisterers' Hall, London.

A panel of leading European CTOs will be judging these awards, chaired by HFMTechnology, and for the first time this year we will be allowing firms to submit a short video alongside their written entry which may help the judges when deliberating on the below criteria.

Judging Criteria: Vendor awards:

The HFM European Technology Awards are designed to mark the achievements of technology firms and those with technology heavy solutions and products that have shown exemplary service and innovation with hedge fund management clients over the period between July 2016 and June 2017. Each of the award categories is expected to be supported by a written submission that will demonstrate that each entry has met a number of different criteria, that will show success over a period spanning July 2016 to June 2017.

For our 2017 awards we have added a number of new categories based on feedback from CTOs and the evolution of the sector. Success in each category depends on a mixture of:

   - Customer acquisition, support  and satisfaction
   - Revenue growth
   - Brand development
   - New product development
   - New thinking and innovation
   - Customer support/ Acting on client feedback

Criteria:

   - Commercial success and business growth
   - Sales/market share figures
   - Demonstration of product innovation and description of how market responded to the idea
   - Description of future development possibilities
   - Positive customer feedback via submitted testimonials from hedge funds

Judging Criteria: Manager awards:

For the first time, the HFMTechnology Awards will this year be running four awards for the hedge fund manager community, looking to reward excellence in the use of technology by large and small firms. Each of the award categories is expected to be supported by a written submission of 750 words or less that will demonstrate success over a period spanning July 2016 to June 2017.

The submissions will be judged by a panel of leading technology experts, chaired by HFMTechnology. The two best use of technology awards have a broad focus but success in each category may depend on a mixture of:
   - Firm wide satisfaction across the back-, middle- and front-office
   - Cost efficiencies for the management company/fund or both Investor benefits and satisfaction
   - New product development
   - New thinking and innovation
   - Thought-leadership in the hedge fund technology space
   - 'Operational alpha' - adding value using technology

For the most innovative use of machine learning technology and best contribution to open-source by a hedge fund, firms should demonstrate in no more than 750 words why they would be a fitting winner of such an accolade. When entering the 2017 Awards, please read through the following criteria for your chosen category (ies), which explain what the judging panel will be looking for when they judge the entries and select the winners.
