Bio
Maria A. Smith, DMD, MAGD, currently serves as AGD immediate past president. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College of Norton, Mass., in 1981, and her doctorate of dental medicine from Penn Dental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. While at Penn, she was a preclinical instructor to first-year students in general restorative dentistry as well as to third-year students in dental auxiliary utilization. Dr. Smith's involvement in the AGD started with her membership while as a student at Penn and then as a member upon graduation. She became a board member for the Connecticut AGD in 1987 and then its president in 1991. She also represented her constituent as a delegate to the AGD House of Delegates Dr. Smith also has been very involved with her local dental society and her state dental association. She has held all offices for her local dental society and currently still serves as its treasurer. In addition to her Mastership in the AGD, Dr. Smith holds Fellowships in the American College of Dentists (ACD), the International College of Dentists (ICD), the Academy of Dentistry International (ADI), and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
