Huot is the founder of Beachside Dental Consultants, Inc. He has lectured at many meetings on topics such as leadership issues, assisted dental hygiene, transitioning to an insurance free practice, common sense office design, proper insurance coding, financial planning, and buying/selling dental practices. Past articles have been featured in Dental Products Report, Dental Economics, Dental Practice Report, Dental Compare, ADA News, SGD Details, and other state dental journals. 

Dr. Huot retired from the USAF Reserve Dental Corps, after 30 years of military duty, and his last assignment was as the Commander of the 920th Aeromedical Staging Squadron at Patrick AFB, FL. He served on active duty from 1982 to 1985. A past President of the Maine Dental Association in 1994, and the 2006 President of the Atlantic Coast District Dental Association in Florida, Dr. Huot is a Fellow in the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and is a past member of the Speaking Consulting Network founded by Linda Miles. He currently serves on the Florida Dental Association Board of Trustees, and in the FDA House of Delegates. Dr. Huot was a private practice owner from 1985 to 2008, and still practices clinical dentistry. He was an employee of Heartland Dental Care from March of 2012 to August of 2013. He then served as the interim dental director for Treasure Coast Community Health Center in 2013-14.and works as a FQHC clinician/consultant for other centers. 

Dr. Richard Huot served on the American Dental Association, ADPAC board from 2008-2012, and was Treasurer in his last year. He is presently on the ADA Council of Government Affairs, and is a current professional content contributor to the Colgate Professional Website. He was employed by Leidos Health as subject matter expert for the Department of Defense Electronic Healthcare Management System Modernization (DHMSM) Program, and is a member of their Clinical Advisory Council. He is also a member of the ADA Standards Committee for Dental Informatics (SCDI).
