Bio
Professor Sir David Edward, KCMG, PC, QC, FRSE was called to the Bar in 1962 and appointed Queen's Counsel in 1974. From 1989 to 2004 he served as the British Judge, first of the European Court of First Instance, and then of the European Court of Justice. From 2004 to 2009 he sat as a Temporary Judge in the Inner House of the Court of Session. He is Professor Emeritus of the School of Law of the University of Edinburgh and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, from which he received its Royal Gold Medal in 2005. He is also an Honorary Fellow of University College, Oxford and an Honorary Bencher of Gray's Inn.
