Description: Dentistry has played a role in mass disaster identification since the late 1800s. This participation course will delve into the history and current state of dentistry and its role in victim identification. The course will culminate in a mock mass disaster where participants will compare antemortem with postmoterm dental information in order to identify victims.
Learning objectives:
- Learn how to perform a proper dental identification.
- Understand the role of the dentist and dental auxiliaries in the identification process.
- Understand how dentists and dental auxiliaries fit into a mass disaster plan.
- Learn what an office should do when asked to provide dental records in order to identify an individual.
