Bio

John Bescec is the Director, Global Trade Compliance and Standards for Microsoft Corporation.  His professional background includes over 25 years of experience in international trade, logistics, and customs compliance.  He currently represents Microsoft on the ICC Customs Valuation Committee, the PSCG (Public Sector Consultative Group) at the WCO and is involved in the WCO GNC (Globally Networked Customs) initiative.  At Microsoft, John is responsible for the Global Trade Regulations Department including global import and export policy, trade standards and controls, technology policy, and trade due diligence reviews for venture integration. He is also extensively involved in the development and implementation of Cloud Computing trade and supply chain solutions for Microsoft.

John and his team work to partner with Customs authorities in the development and implementation of Customs programs that enhance trade compliance while expediting cross border clearance. Utilizing Microsoft’s in-house trade solutions, John is working with the Microsoft team to pursue integration of data from its trade partners into risk and business planning.

Prior to joining Microsoft, John was a Senior Vice President with the Canadian Association of Importers and Exporters.  He also spent 11 years as a Customs Manager and International Trade Advisor for Nortel Networks. He is a Certified International Trade Professional (C.I.T.P.), a Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), and a Certified Association Executive (CAE).  John holds a BA in Industrial Relations from the University of Toronto.
