Title Siperintendent Company Bahamas Custom and Excise Departement Bio Tyrone L. Sands was born January 8, 1957, to Ms. Myrtle Leary of Rock Sound, Eleuthera. He passed through the corridors of St. Anne’s Catholic School, Rock Sound All-Age School, Preston H. Albury High School, Rock Sound, Eleuthera and the College of the Bahamnas. In 1979 Mr. Sands joined The Bahamas Customs Department as a Trainee Customs Officer and has moved through the ranks to Superintendent of Customs. He served the Customs Department on the islands of Andros, San Salvador, Cat Island and Eleuthera. His knowledge and experience of Customs were heightened while serving in the following sections:

He presently serves as Training and Public Relations Officer. Mr. Sands was ordained a Gospel Minister in June 2004 and appointed a Justice of the Peace of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas in November 2006. He is married to the former Virnetta Curtis of Green Castle, Eleuthera and they are blessed with three sons – Dr. Jason, Sherado and Shamar; one daughter Sherea; two daughters-in-law Natalie and Olga and four grandchildren Zion, Zarah, Olivia and Jasmine. |
