Andreas Maurer is Chief of the International Trade Statistics Section at WTO. He studied economics with a specialization in public finance and statistics/econometrics at the University of Hohenheim and holds a doctorate (Dr.oec.) in economics. In 1990, he joined the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. He was editor-in-charge of the Statistical Journal of the UN ECE. In 1994 he moved to GATT/WTO. His current interests include measuring trade in services flows, especially mode 4, and trade in value added.
