Since 2010 Frank is Head of Trade Relations for the Customs Administration of the Netherlands. In this position he is responsible for sr. level contacts with the business associations of the (Dutch) importing, exporting and logistics sector.

Next to this he holds the Innovation Agenda of Dutch Customs, being a tri-partite cooperation, between trade, science and government. These parties conduct research on technology-, logistic and supervision innovations with the aim of maintaining the Dutch leading position in international logistics.

Extra curricular Frank is the initiator of an academic knowledge development center in the above-mentioned Innovation field. The program is set up in an inter faculty Master study of Customs & Supply Chain Compliance, at the Rotterdam School of Management.

Supply Chain Security and logistics

From 2007 he conducts research in supply chains in order to increase efficiency and efficacy in international transport and to modernize customs supervision focused on reduction of burdens for trade. Frank is the co-founder of the innovative supply chain concept The Pipeline Interface, which model has been adopted for development of Logistics and Supervision in the 2010- 2020 decade by the UN and WEF. Frank is deeply involved in EU Framework research projects in which this concept is being tested (Cassandra and Core). Frank also developed the enforcement vision ‘Pushing Boundaries’, which is the point on the horizon for the Customs Administration of The Netherlands.

Frank Heijmann studied International Customs Law, International Business Administration and Strategic Development and holds next to this, a Master degree in Fiscal Affairs. Since 1986 Frank is working at the Tax and Customs Administration of the Netherlands.
