Bio

Mr PRIEGO is an economist from the Instituto Teconologico y de Estudios de Superiores de Monterrey (TEC) in Mexico.  He was awarded a double degree MBA from Thunderbird, School of Global Management and TEC University in Mexico, and a Masters Degree in Economics and Public Policy from TEC University in Mexico.  He has PhD studies in Public Policy.

He is currently Central Administrator for Customs Planning and Strategic Coordination.  Amongst his responsibilities, he coordinates the implementation of the Mexican Single Window, currently involving 10 governmental agencies and comprising 242 foreign trade formalities with 420 variants.  He coordinates the development and implementation of strategies related to Performance Measurement as part of the integral Customs reform and modernization programme.

Within the Tax Administration Service of Mexico (Revenue Agency), he was also Central Administrator for Evaluation where he coordinated the implementation of International instruments related to fight against corruption and promoted strategies for processes evaluation to identify key areas for improvement.

He has a professional career of more than 15 years in the Public Sector in the areas of Management and Inter-institutional coordination, including high-level positions as Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Health and Deputy Director General at the Ministry of Social Development.  At the Ministry of Economy, he acted as coordinator for several competitiveness and productivity programmes, including those related to foreign trade, involving key stake-holders from the civil society organisations and business associations.
