Randy Antley

Randy is an accomplished Reliability Engineer with a diverse background in developing and maintaining rotating equipment and mechanical seal reliability programs.  He has been with Flowserve Corporation for over 10 years where he has held various positions in Application Engineering. Prior to coming to Flowserve he spent 25 years in various positions with a large pharmaceutical/chemical plant where he was part of a very successful reliability team. He is technically proficient in the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of a diverse selection of rotating equipment and mechanical seals with a proven track record of improving equipment reliability. He has also spent most of his career involved in various types of vibration analysis programs using these skills to eliminate unplanned critical equipment failures in the plant environment. Currently Randy is a Tier 1 Reliability Engineer within Flowserve and covers the east coast of North America and Canada.  He also supports the Tier 1 group with specialized vibration analysis skills throughout the country.  He uses his experience to troubleshoot and resolve critical reliability issues through the execution of technically challenging system analysis.
 
Tod Baer

Minnkota Power Cooperative Inc.

Tod currently holds the position of Reliability Specialist II at Minnkota Power’s coal-fired generating facilities located at Center ND. Minnkota Power Cooperative Inc, is a generation and transmission utility which serves 11 member-owner cooperatives located in eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota. Tod has been working in the reliability centered maintenance field since 1983 at the facility. His current responsibilities are managing and overseeing the facility’s Reliability Program which includes the PD/PM Program, Loss Elimination, RCA, Asset Control and Care Process. He is very passionate about Pd, PM and RCM, as a practitioner, instructor and mentor in the fields of vibration, lubrication, ultrasonics, thermography, RCFA and precision maintenance.

In the mid 1980’s he was the driving force in the development and implementation of Minnkota Power’s Pd/PM program, and supervised Minnkota’s Pd/PM team. In the 1990’s, using information obtained from the Pd/PM, CMMS and RCA programs Tod justified the need to adapt precision maintenance philosophies into the facility’s maintenance program.

Today, Minnkota Power’s, Asset Reliability Maintenance Program, incorporates most maintenance and condition monitoring philosophies and technologies. The evolving 40 year old program has been very successful and has played an important role in the power plants’ success as a cost effective, reliable energy producer. The program and the individuals championing the program have served as a guidepost to others seeking similar results.

When Tod is not working, he and his wife Patty, enjoy traveling, scuba diving, hunting, fishing and golfing.

Noah has over twenty-six years of broad operations and electrical systems maintenance experience in industrial, commercial, and military settings ranging from nuclear submarines to world class amusement parks. His experience includes high and low voltage, AC and DC, power generation, power distribution, motors, and motor controllers. Noah is currently in charge of product development for new and existing PdM technology at PdMA Corporation. 
Noah is a graduate of the University of the State of New York and the Naval Nuclear Power School and Training Unit. He is a Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional, with field experience in motor circuit analysis, current signature, power analysis, thermography, vibration analysis, oil analysis and ultrasonic testing.

Ms. Christman is currently the Product Marketing Manager for IMI Sensors, a Division of PCB Piezotronics, Inc. In that capacity, she is responsible for product development and management of the company's industrial and energy product lines that include accelerometers, 4-20 mA transmitters, pressure transducers and switches. Prior to her current role, Meredith worked for ten years as Product Manager of Air Management Products with Roberts-Gordon LLC where she was responsible for product development and management of the company's DOAS cooling and indirect-fired heating equipment. Ms. Christman graduated in 2003 from UB School of Management with an MBA in finance and international management. She completed her undergraduate education at Canisius College in 2001. Ms. Christman sits on the Board of Directors of the Pet Emergency Fund. She also volunteers with the Martin House Restoration Corporation and Parkside Community Association.

Tony is a Category IV vibration analyst. He is a highly skilled diagnostic measurement, signal analyst and technical training instructor with 39-years experience. He is accomplished in vibration measurement and analysis, modal analysis, operational deflection shape testing, acoustics, dynamic balancing, transient capture, on-line monitoring, floor vibration testing and product defect analysis. He is experienced in a wide range of industries and equipment. Tony began his career in 1974 as a field machinist at Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY. In 1977 he transitioned into Kodak’s Equipment Diagnostics Group and worked for twenty years a full time vibration analyst and group leader. After leaving Kodak in 1998, Tony worked for Emerson Process Management, CSI Division as a senior consultant and training instructor. Tony received two service awards for outstanding performance while working for Emerson. In July 2005, Tony left Emerson/CSI and started his own company, 4X Diagnostics. 4X Diagnostics provides diagnostic measurement and analysis, mentoring, modal analysis, operational deflection shape testing, modal/ODS training, remote monitoring and analysis and in-plant or public vibration technology training courses. Mr. Gaston Desimone is the Latin America Technical Leader for Machinery Diagnostic Services at General Electric Oil and Gas Digital Solutions, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His organization is responsible for solving machinery vibration problems mainly in the Oil and Gas and Power Generation Industry, as well as any other industry involving critical rotating machinery. He joined Bently Nevada Corporation in 2000, continuing his career at GE Optimization and control. Since 2000, he has gained experience as Systems and Instrumentation field Engineer, Machinery Diagnostic field Engineer and both internal and external instructor in the Machinery Diagnostic area. Mr. Desimone obtained his Bachelor´s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Buenos Aires University.
 
Scott Dow

A mechanical engineer by trade, Scott Dow has been working in the vibration world for over 25 years. During that time, he has worked extensively as a field analyst and as a trainer, teaching formal classes and also mentoring clients individually and in small groups. During the mid-90s, Scott developed an innovative training method based on recreating interesting and educational case studies he had encountered. Students would receive the actual data to analyze and were free to request any field tests they thought would help them diagnose the problem. Originally called InterActive Training when it was introduced, the cases have recently been updated and the classes are now being offered by Mobius as Analyst Flight School.

Scott currently owns his own business, CBM Consultants, with one of his primary duties being a Senior Instructor for the Mobius Institute N.A. When he is not conducting Mobius classes, he continues to mentor both individuals and small groups with either on-site or remote support for database setup, building analysis skills, field testing and more.

 
Ray Garvey

Ray is an engineer and inventor named on twenty US patents associated with oil analyzers, infrared thermography, machine monitoring, and composite structures. Ray is known for his participation in developing CSI 5100 and CSI 5200 minilabs. Ray received his BS Degree from West Point and MS degree from the University of Tennessee. His professional certifications have included Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Lubrication Specialist (CLS), and US Army Engineer (LTC retired). Ray worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers (5 years active 20 years Reserve), US DOE Uranium Gas Centrifuge Program (11 years), and Emerson Process Management (25 years).

Jeff Hay

Jeff graduated from the University of Louisville in 2011 with a Doctorate in Physics where his research focused heavily on Applied Optical Physics. After graduation he took a position as a Research Engineer with the University of Louisville where his roles focused on data acquisition, signal processing, software development, and data analysis. Several of the grants Dr. Hay participated in required commercialization strategies of which he spearheaded. While at the University he invented a technology to measure motions remotely with the use of video camera, a technology that was patented in 2011. In 2013 Dr. Hay left the University to start RDI, LLC to bring the technology he invented out of the University and into commercial markets. He took on the role of CEO of RDI and licensed the technology from the University of Louisville. In addition to this he has worked with sub-licensees to assist in commercialization of the technology within their organizations.

 
Thomas Hoenig

Thomas Hoenig has been in the vibration analysis and spindle repair industry for decades. He is president of GTI Spindle Technology and GTI Predictive Technology. He has seen predictive maintenance techniques, technologies and methods evolve through the years and has a great vantage point to understand future developments and directions the industry is moving towards. GTI Spindle Technology is based in Manchester, NH and with locations in Illinois and North Carolina has grown to be one of the largest privately held spindle repair companies in North America. The unique needs of GTI's spindle customers led to the development of VibePro - a professional vibration analysis tool for the iPAD. That effort subsequently led to GTI's entry into the predictive maintenance and vibration analysis world. Apps for shop and field balancing quickly followed. Tom continues to lead the development efforts at GTI, recently releasing app solutions for wireless sensors, online vibration monitoring, thermography and shaft alignment. Tom brings a unique perspective to vibration analysis for CNC machine tools.
 
Preston Johnson

Preston Johnson is a Principal at Allied Reliability Group (ARG), with a technical focus on condition monitoring technology and systems. Preston builds on 28 years in industrial instrumentation at National Instruments, 15 of those in Condition Monitoring Systems, and draws from his broad functional background in people and project management, technical and domain expertise in asset monitoring applications, and business development to create and implement comprehensive business strategies for new product development, market introduction, and growth. At ARG, he works with the business development teams to deploy condition monitoring services, reliability solutions, training, and hardware/software systems that improve machinery uptime, reliability, and ultimately, production capacity. Prior to joining the ARG team, Preston held roles in Applications Engineering, Field Sales, Sales Management, Product Marketing, and Business Development. Throughout his career, he has enjoyed interactions with prospects and customers solving both technical and business issues by leveraging process, practice, and technology, including signal processing and statistical/predictive analytics. Preston’s specialties include condition monitoring systems, signal processing, prognostics, big data infrastructure, and systems engineering. Additionally, he has extensive experience with LabVIEW Graphical System Design software. Preston has delivered over 35 papers and presentations at technology conferences and serves on the Board of Directors at the Society for Machinery Failure Prevention Technology. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Vanderbilt University and a Master’s of Business Administration in Information Management Systems from the University of Texas at Austin. He is also a certified Category III Vibration Analyst. In his spare time, Preston enjoys cycling, water sports, and soccer. He participates in Olympic distance triathlons and the Austin Men’s Over 40 soccer league. When working out, he enjoys listening to the Blues genre of music and is fortunate to reside in the live music capital of the world, Austin, Texas.

Ron Newman

Ron is a MIBoC (Mobius Institute Board of Certification) CAT III Vibration Analyst, accredited BSc, and has been involved in machinery vibration and acoustics for 35+ years. Beginning with IRD Mechanalysis (now Rockwell) in 1977, he spent 4+ years providing sales and consulting field services to Ontario industries. After a short time with Schenck-Trebel, where he gained an intimate knowledge of dynamic balancing applications, Ron spent 23 years with Bruel & Kjaer, a world leader in sound and vibration measurement. Throughout his career he has provided formal training seminars and workshops, and served as a part-time instructor of sound and vibration at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). Currently, through a partnership between PRÜFTECHNIK and MOBIUS, Ron acts as senior Mobius instructor for ISO CAT I, CAT II and CAT III vibration analysis courses in Canada. He is an invited conference speaker, and has presented and/or published, webinars, workshops, and magazine articles on a variety of “condition monitoring” subjects such as Dynamic Balancing, Rolling Element Bearing Analysis, Machinery Resonance, and Proactive Maintenance.
 
Jerald Danny Newton

Jerald (Danny) Newton is a Principal Engineering Specialist with the Savannah River Remediation's Co (SRR). This company supports the environmental cleanup at one of the largest Department of Energy (DOE) sites located in South Carolina. The DOE site has a foot print of 310 square miles and located on the Savannah River boarding Georgia. He has worked at this site for over thirty-seven (37) years. During this time, he has served as a Maintenance Mechanic/Welder, Engineering QC/QA Welding Inspector Specialist and for the last eighteen (22) years in the SRS PdM program. He has obtained a Level III certification in vibration analyst from Technical Associates of Charlotte, NC. For the pasted twelve (12) years he is the PdM Lead for testing support at the SRR Full Tank Test Facility at the site. This facility is the only one of its kind, in the United States, for testing of long shaft mixer pumps.

Kenneth Piety is the Vice President of Technology at Azima DLI and is responsible for the development of a new paradigm in vibration analysis tools and a second generation cloud-based vibration diagnostic center. He has been a pioneer in making vibration analysis and other condition assessment technologies useful on the factory floor. He is the holder of more than 30 patents related to reliability-based maintenance technologies. Dr. Piety was a co-founder of CSI and was employed there for 18 years. Prior to CSI, Dr. Piety worked as a development engineer at General Electric, Technology for Energy Corporation, and at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He holds a B.S. (1970) and Ph.D. (1976) in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

As product manager at the Hewlett Packard Co. during the 1970’s, Mark directed the development of the first commercially available FFT-based modal testing system. Following that, he directed the development of the first dedicated modal testing instrument, the HP 5423A Structural Dynamics Analyzer.
In 1979, Dr. Richardson co-founded Structural Measurement Systems, Inc (SMS) and was its President and CEO. SMS marketed the Star ModalÔ software for analyzing structural noise & vibration problems.
Mark has authored over 70 technical papers and magazine articles on structural testing, digital signal processing, modal analysis, and machine fault detection. He has traveled worldwide conducting tests, giving seminars, and teaching short courses.

Prior to joining IVC Technologies, Jim served in the submarine service for the US Navy for six years. After leaving the Navy Jim worked for a defense contractor supporting R&D activities in the US and abroad before joining IVC Technologies in 1993 out of their Ohio Corporate office. Jim moved to the Pensacola Florida area in 1995 to start up IVC Technologies Southeast Regional office and was instrumental in developing new business in the area. Jim gained experience in the many facets of Reliability while working as a Program Manager for a large corporate client. Jim joined the Business Development team in 2005 and is responsible for the marketing and growth of IVC Technologies products and services. Jim was named Director of Business Development on December 15th of 2006. Jim is a member of IVC Technologies Senior Management Team (SMT). Jim is ASNT certified Level II in Vibration Analysis, ASNT Level 1 in Infrared Thermography and ASNT Level II Visual Inspection.

Phil is an accomplished Reliability Engineer with a diverse background in pump, valve and mechanical seals as well as hydraulic systems.  He has been with Flowserve Corporation for over 20 years where he has held various positions in Applications, Manufacturing and Reliability Engineering.

He is technically proficient in the installation, operation, and maintenance of a diverse selection of rotating equipment and has a proven track record of improving equipment reliability through upgrades, hydraulic rerates, and providing on-site engineering/maintenance/operations training.

Currently Phil is a Tier 1 Reliability Engineer within Flowserve and covers targeted sites across North America.  He concentrates in providing value to clients through comprehensive field reliability testing and the hydraulic modeling of their systems. 

He resolves critical and/or complex system problems through the execution of technically challenging and unique field assessments.  Phil has held a key role in the development of Flowserve’s LCA 2.0 initiative to improve reliability and key customer sites. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronics Technology from the State University of New York and spent 6 years in the US Navy as an Electronics Technician.

Tod Baer

Reliability Specialist II, Minnkota Power Cooperative Inc.

Tod currently holds the position of Reliability Specialist II at Minnkota Power’s coal-fired generating facilities located at Center ND. Minnkota Power Cooperative Inc, is a generation and transmission utility which serves 11 member-owner cooperatives located in eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota. Tod has been working in the reliability centered maintenance field since 1983 at the facility. His current responsibilities are managing and overseeing the facility’s Reliability Program which includes the PD/PM Program, Loss Elimination, RCA, Asset Control and Care Process. He is very passionate about Pd, PM and RCM, as a practitioner, instructor and mentor in the fields of vibration, lubrication, ultrasonics, thermography, RCFA and precision maintenance.

In the mid 1980’s he was the driving force in the development and implementation of Minnkota Power’s Pd/PM program, and supervised Minnkota’s Pd/PM team. In the 1990’s, using information obtained from the Pd/PM, CMMS and RCA programs Tod justified the need to adapt precision maintenance philosophies into the facility’s maintenance program.

Today, Minnkota Power’s, Asset Reliability Maintenance Program, incorporates most maintenance and condition monitoring philosophies and technologies. The evolving 40 year old program has been very successful and has played an important role in the power plants’ success as a cost effective, reliable energy producer. The program and the individuals championing the program have served as a guidepost to others seeking similar results.

When Tod is not working, he and his wife Patty, enjoy traveling, scuba diving, hunting, fishing and golfing.

Malcolm Osenton has more than 30 years of experience in maintenance, reliability & engineering management. He is currently the Director of Reliability for Mosaic’s phosphate business unit, responsible for asset reliability improvements across 10 facilities. In his career, he has held leadership positions while working in the pulp & paper industry for 15 years, consulting engineering for 3 years and the last 14 years in the fertilizer Industry. Malcolm is a graduate of the University of South Alabama with a degree in Civil Engineering. He is a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional and a Certified Reliability Leader.

He has a specific interest in predictive statistics and has developed, published and patented a method which can be used to estimate residual life of rotating equipment from historic vibration signatures, within a range of certainty. He has maintained an active presence in formal research in the field of asset management and reliability over the years with over 50 peer reviewed publications and many supervised theses and dissertations covering a broad range of topics in the field. He is currently appointed as Extraordinary Professor of Industrial Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch and Adjunct Associate Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Tennessee.
